[Discussion] Why do people believe Garp had the ability to Kill Akainu?

Because Garp and Roger "almost killed" each other many times. We can infer that Garp, in his prime, was almost Roger's level or at least WB's level. Considering that, it wouldn't be a stretch to believe that he could kill an injured Akainu.

In defence, yeah the health reduced WB it was stated. Nothing was stated about health reducing his attack potency

You are using old Whitebeard, who got stabbed before he started the battle, who was attacked when he was having an heart attack as a reference. Regarding his strongest attack, consider his physical state then. Sengoku had said his attacks depend upon his physical state. Also, Whitebeard did not check upon Akainu after he had fallen into the crevice. If WB had checked up on him, and decided to kill him, Akainu would be a goner. Akainu took 1 chapter to recover from it.

Maybe, maybe not that's for another time but it did affect his ability to attack even if it didn't affect his attacks themselves. Garp would be able to attack more consistently and therefore apply more pressure.
