Alot of people are saying that it was wrong for the black players in the NFL to protest police brutality and racism on the day americans remembered those lost in 911? Do you agree that the constitutional rights of these african american players should be restricted because of the memory and anniversary of 911 terroist attacks?I think this is a discussion that should be had.

It's a right that our founders fought for. America is built from people who felt oppressed and wanted a land of freedom. Now we're here where people want to restrict that because of their views. Bottom line is, no one is obligated to do anything during the anthem and it's a fundamental right to protest regardless if it's on the anniversary of 911. What's more funny is that people think that because these players are kneeling they are showing disrespect towards the veterens and those who fought for us. I don't know one player whos gone to say on record that that is the reason they are kneeling. In no way does them kneeling show disrespect and I garuntee if you asked each player they would say that they praise the men and women who fought for us and gave their lives. They kneel to show their discontent with the law enforcement system but people are putting words in these players mouths making it sound like they are disrespecting 911 or people who serve our country in the military

All about perspective. Everyone remembers 9/11 from many years ago yet sweep current problems and what some may deem modern terrorism under the rug. America loves to forget police brutality(terrorism) in our own backyard.

I personally would not have done it, but I can see the message.

I don't mind it. Do I think it'll change anything? Nope.

It was done purposely on 9/11 yesterday to grab people's attention which kind of is the whole point of the protest to make everyone aware of their cause.

Like I said though, won't change anything imo but it does have people talking about it.

Great point, whats also more disingenuous is the people criticizing these black players about them protesting are the same people who complain about free speech violations and campus safe spaces. Yet when these athletes want to exercise their basic American right they are angry. Many black americans also fought and died and bled for this country and they deserve to leave in a country where there is equal treatment according to the law.
Could've literally waited 1 day. Sounds like something done on purpose.
Why should they not have the right to exercise their constitutional rights on any day they chose? It may be wrong to you and i but why not?

Unless someone makes a stand and say enough is enough nothing will change, one person can change a room and if it can change a room it can change a state and if it can change a state it can change the country. Imagine if rosa parks said that her refusing to stand-up when asked to get up from her seat wouldn't change anything. Change takes time but as martin luther king said the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends towards justice.

Punks for exercising their constitutional rights to demand equal treatment for blacks? But let me guess those who call the president of the united states a muslim and deny he is an american citizen are not punks right?

Actually I'm not american, so I couldn't care less about neither of those events, but it's obviously attention seeking. Of course they have the right to do it. They succeeded in making people talk about it though, or you wouldn't be making this thread today.

You make a good point with the rosa parks scenario. I still don't think this will change anything though.
For what it's worth, kudos to the players for sticking up for what they believe in .

It's their right. Peaceful protest. They want people to care about the innocent lives that were taken away by terrorist but don't care about the social injustice throughout the country. I could go on but this topics get irritating because of ignorance.

Well said, anybody who hasn't experienced the life of the average black person seems to think when we do something like protest during the national anthem on the day of 9/11 that we're doing for a bad reason when the truth is we don't give a damn if it 9/11 remembrance day or Thanksgiving it doesn't matter, it's time for change and people who can't see anything wrong and complain about shit like this are the problem just because they're life in America is okay doesn't mean a person of colors is...

The real question is.. Why do you care? For those that understand what goes on around the world really starts within yourself. Every life from the day you were born til present day will depict what encounters you will face. Every life will encounter something different. Human beings are the only ones that put value to "ANYTHING" not necessarily material things. Including putting value to beliefs and laws and rules. I ask why do you care not under the impression to persuade those to NOT care. Simply because it is a cause and effect situation for real facts throughout human history. People do harm to people and some maybe most people have a better sense of encounters they face. Some people have more common knowledge and common sense. Something to think deeply about starts with yourself.

Which brings me to my response to this question. Was it right? Youre damn RIGHT. Who gives a shit if they decide to do it on christmas day.

Which do you choose: "Freedom or Truth?" -sen. Trey Gowdy
