The size of Hagaromo (a human) versus the Juubi ( a beast that dwarfs mountains) is comparable to a gnat fighting a brontosaurus


His extreme power notwithstanding of course, it seems likely that just to account for the size difference, Hagaromo and Hamura may have had some sort of avatar to help close the gap between the size differences.

PS is a Mangekyo ability and Hagormo didn't have Mangekyo. Rinnegan feats combined with Hamura's Jyuken would have been more than enough to face the Juubi.

Maybe he just dropped a REALLY big meteor on the Juubi using Rinnegan. Or a very large scale jutsu. Juubi is huge yes but we've seen ninja's dwarf villages with large scale jutsu so he may not have needed a Susanoo, though the way the fillers are going it wouldn't surprise me if he whips a PS out to fight at some point.

The creator of ninshuu (which spawned ninjutsu),

The man who can take nothing and create something from chakra alone,

the son of the progenitor of chakra,

And the wielder of the Rinnegan which be said he AWAKENED,

None of that suggests he can't make a mere PS?
