I don't know why people are trying to downplay Minato.

He figured out Kamui on the spot and managed to beat Obito something that took everybody else 600 chapters and he came up with a battle strategy in order for Guy to land a hit on Madara.

minato's plans for naruto worked...itachi's plans for sasuke failed more times than not
What are you talking about? Minato failed too. Its just their saying. Its their path not itachi or minato. Itachi did too come ip quickly with nagato. My view itachi is better. Minato failed with obito lol

I'll answer if you answer. :|

Be honest. That shit he did in vote 2 and against obito was borderline retardation
Still lights years better than not being able to throw a few Kunais close to a target. And that too, from a ****ing Hokage. Who even made him a Chunin, let alone a Jounin ... and then that Hokage seat? Hiruzen was desperate, it seems.

Not the most intelligent way to engage a Kage level Uchiha wielding the Sharingan knowing that eye contact subjects you to being affected by Genjutsu.

In General? They were both prodigy's in their own right. Comparing Itachi solving the Edo Tensei was not simple due to his analytic ability but it was as equally due to him having the right tools to counter the Jutsu after understanding it's workings. There's nothing to say that Minato would have been unable to do the same if he had the said tool; Izanami, However the Manga portrays Minato having to invest a lot more thought process and time into analyzing and countering presented situations as opposed to Itachi and not only that, the Manga made it very clear that Itachi's knowledge overall greatly succeeds Minato's and adding that to his greater ability to apply this knowledge as well as his skills in presented combat scenarios indicates that he should be much more battle intelligent. Based on what is shown in the Manga we can easily say that Minato would fall for Itachi's Genjutsu because despite being cognizant of the Sharingan's abilities he faces Sharingan wielding opponents by continuously maintaining eye contact with them, which in context is more so a sloppy fighting style but on the other hand there's no way his FTG tactic's would not work on Itachi, or at least not easily or with moderate diffcultiy----with Itachi being cognizant of the Jutsu as his fighting style in every single scenario in the Manga minimizes the most obvious risk's to the greatest extent.

To be honest its very difficult to compare the two.....both were intellectual, smart and often were able to foresee things that were beyond others......I would place Minato over Itachi because Minato's judgement was much closer in actual than Itachi. Minato predicted Obito's plans and he adamantly sealed Kyubi inside his own son believing that its power would be requisite for defeating the masked man which actually proved true. Itachi's action on the other hand many times seem debatable and often we will find it questionable whether the actions he took were actually worth it. I will say Itachi sacrificed a lot for the village but his decisions regarding Sasuke turned out to be crap whose protection was his main motive. Minato on the other hand, call it the plot armour, had his actions justified at crucial points. Sealing his own chakra into nine tail seal, sealing Kushina's chakra into it too so Naruto could be helped in controlling Kyubi's power, those actually turned out to be master strokes. They both are almost equal but due to more sensible decision making and i say it relatively i will put Minato ahead.
