I actually agree with minamoto xD

Plus, as far as the manga goes, Itachi telling Sasuke that he needed to kill his best friend in order to defeat Itachi is basically 90% of the reason why Sasuke didn't learn the Will of Fire

Good job Itachi

nah. him telling to kill his best friend kept sasuke from continuing to be fodder.

sorry but its the truth...

-itachi slaughtring teh uchiha clan members and attacking innocent poeple is equal to being a terrorist...

-i like the character of itachi but truth must be told :

no matter how kishimoto tries to make itachi look innocent he still fails in my opinion....

-teh whole uchiha clan massacre plot in my Opinion is just an illogical nonsense...

-YO kishimoto!!...you say itachi had to annihilate his clan to prevent a coup detat..but how could just 2 uchihas members (tobidara and itachi) slaughter a whole uchiha clan??? toooo much no sense...

or let me reverse this plz : how could an whole uchiha clan launch a coup detat when they were annihlated by just 2 uchihas members?????...NO SENSE IS BEING MADE HERE!!

-lets be honest : at least isn't teh uchiha coup detat justified??...the uchihas were opressed...they weren't behind the kurama attack on konoha...so their coup detat was legit in my opnion....

thus : itachi made the worst decision in manga history : instead of siding with his clan he sided with Danzo....

-danzo was behind it all...itachi should've killed him...if itachi killed danzo a peacefull negotiation could happen between konnoha and uchihas....thus teh uchiha clan massacre would be avoided...

-another worst decision done by itachi is : why kill all the uchiha + your parrents but keep sasuke alive??...

so sasuke's life is important but other uchiha children's lives are worthless???....COMON KISHIMOTO!!!!! answer me!!!!!

-another worst decision done by itachi is letting sasuke alive and torturing him : this just turned sasuke into an avenger criminal....

all i am saying is the pure truth unless the mystery of teh uchiha clan isn't over

First, itachi didn't make any decision. It was his MISSION.
Yes uchihas were not behind the kurama's attack, but UCHIHA obito was. Both konoha and uchiha were right!!
Itachi didn't kill innocent ppl. In the novel it's said that he was the one who killed the police force and higher ups,and obito killed women and children younger than him. But since it is SP who's showing the anime,we couldn't expect less.
Itachi could not kill danzo,or it'd be considered as a war alert from uchihas, and of course itachi's betrayal.
He left sauce alive,Cuz as he said, sauce had a hidden potential. He simply wanted to be judged by an uchiha and wanted to make him the hero of hidden leaf who killed the s-ranked criminal, uchiha itachi.
He told sauce that he killed his best friend to gain MS,and that he should do the same. But man,he knew who sasukewas. Sasuke told naruto he won't kill him cuz he didn't follow the path his brother did. Itachi actually thought sasuke that my way is the wrong way,he didn't really mean it to kill his friend.
By torturing him,he wanted to be the source of sasuke's hatred ,so sasuke's hate would be for him only, and he wouldn't hate anyone else and instead love his village and don't follow his big brother's footsteps. But sasuke's hatred was more than he thought it was.
Any questions?

Exactly, so he made a wrong decision. He could have just not said that and assumed that the same power that made him strong - forming a bond with the village, and friendships - would make Sasuke strong. It was a bad error, and Sasuke's idea of "one person should be strong enough to handle all the problems" is literally because of Itachi. XD Itachi was training him to be the opposite of what he wanted the other Uchiha to be like. There was no way he could have expected Sasuke to grow to appreciate the village and form bonds outside of his clan if he literally told Sasuke "Any bond you form will only hold you back."

When this is the opposite of how Itachi himself became strong and made decisions...he was trying to protect his brother and the village...

People say "Itachi seems too perfect" but really there's no way to say this wasn't a plain mistake that could have easily been avoided.

Eh, the entire "MS requirement" was brought up when Sasuke asked Itachi "Did you kill Shisui-san?"

What was his response supposed to be? "Yes, now go play with your friends, eat vegetables, and defeat me!"
Vengeance is not completed on love and rainbows.

@bold- He never stated those exact words and he knew that had Sasuke not learned the truth- he would have continued on with having bonds as the object of his misery would no longer be existent.

@underlined- Of course it would be a different path. Itachi's aim was to protect and give up his life. Sasuke's aim was for self-preservation and vengeance (to take away). Then, when the latter's aim would be completed, he could go back to bonds as he all his hatred would be gone (since Itachi made sure it was only directed at him... this evidently worked up until Tobi told him given Sasuke attacked no one unless they provoked him, he even spared nukenins he didn't know).

During his fights with Haku, Gaara, Orochimaru, etc- Sasuke's friends are in danger. This was not enough to push him over the edge and fight as hard as he could. He nearly gives up. However, he attempts to not give up in the end as he remembers he has a goal in life, something more than just bonds, he has to kill Itachi.

You can bring up moral considerations ("telling someone to be an avenger is bad!" lol), but it won't ever really change the fact that this helped more than it caused harm & was what kept Sasuke going... otherwise he'd be dead.

You can also bring up him fighting Naruto... but this won't hold much weight as with the reveal of Ashura/Indra, the two were destined to fight each other.

You're underestimating how much Sasuke identifed with his mission as an avenger. There's a panel in the Chuunin Exams where he plain says it. His feelings of inferiority to Naruto were directly related to his desire to complete his mission to kill Itachi - if he can't beat Naruto, how can he hope to beat Itachi? He felt like the village was holding him back - or that he himself couldn't progress staying in the village, at least - and he needed to go to Orochimaru to get the power he needed. After the Uchiha Clan Massacre, there isn't a single reference Sasuke makes to his relationship with the Uchiha Clan prior to its demise; only in relation to Itachi.

Itachi had monumental influence over every aspect of his life. Naruto did too - Orochimaru admitted as much, stating that Sasuke ouldn't have been so willing to sacrifice himself without Naruto's influence - but Itachi's statement of "You have to kill your best friend" ultimately undermined all of that.

Basically, it was demonstrated that Sasuke could become strong protecting his friends, and was learning to identify with the Will of Fire - until it was shown that Itachi's words to Sasuke trumped that.

You're basically doing away with the notion of self-accountability.

Itachi accepted his role as a villain. As such, he will keep up with his facade and when Sasuke attacks him- he won't encourage him in a "motherly" manner. He supposedly offed the entire clan alone just for the lolz. He accepts the fact that he will commit sins under this with these circumstances.

Now for Sasuke- he did decide to make Itachi the focal point of his life. He could have mentioned the clan more. He could have thought of taking his vengeance for the sake of justice or to protect others from Itachi's apparent madness. But he didn't care about any of that by his own volition. He decided to blindly follow a path because he thought that was his only role, he let his obsession (which honestly existed even before massacre- he always just wanted to surpass Itachi, be better than Itachi, etc) take the reigns.

You're blaming Itachi for Sasuke having a fixation on him when people can't stop something such as this. The only way this would end is if Itachi died or if the latter told him the truth (which was not an option as he'd want to attack villagers who did nothing wrong).

As for the last part- Sasuke nearly gave up and accepted death against Gaara, the Forest of Death, etc. His friends weren't enough, he wanted to live to kill Itachi. And he started to care about friends, but it wasn't the main motivator. Sasuke also went off the wall when he heard of Itachi's appearance in the village- the latter did not seek him out. So, no... Sasuke was the same. What Itachi's words did was give him a reality check which then led to him wanting a quicker way to power. Sasuke chose this way to power of his own volition. He could have taught himself more like his brother. He could have observed people in the village more and memorized techniques. He could have gotten stronger in the village as his brother was stronger than him when he left at age 13, too. But he decided not to since it wasn't convenient. I'm sorry, but the fault for this lies with Sasuke and Sasuke alone. Unless you want him dead?

just imagine (god forbad) your family and all your neighbors were killed by some1 like itachi..bet my life you would call him a terrorist butcher!! and plz dont even deny that

They wouldn't ever be killed by someone like Itachi given my family/neighbors are not irrational enough to resist peace talks if they were ever in the situation the Uchiha were in, nor are they prideful enough to the point they would look down on anyone who is not from our group.

Itachi working for ISIS confirmed :snick:

ISIS doesn't save anything nor do they reserve their killing for people who are basically committing suicide via their actions and taking others out with them.

The reason he made that remark was explained:
You must be registered for see images

Him saying that was a method of making sure Sasuke would be more motivated to target him as when he left, Sasuke didn't have anyone close to him bar him.

I don't think he thought that Sasuke would fool around making new connections when his family had been supposedly murdered for no reason with the criminal still out there... he misjudged his brother.

They can defend it quite easily as between Itachi's decisions (die with clan and let others die or kill clan yourself while letting them be avenged)- he evidently chose the sane option.

ot: Terrorism is usually roughly defined as the use of violence or intimidation to further political and/or religious aims. Itachi didn't attack them to gain power, gain a higher position, or due to some misguided notion. He did it when they were going to attack the village and refused negotiation. "Terrorists" would be more in line with the Police Force which doomed their clan to such a fate.

I know man lol its still f*cked up he killed his clan whether right or wrong.

It's definitely still a crime; as all ninjas commit when they kill for their village.

Exactly the whole sotuation was just f*cked.

And Danzos a true prick.

And that stone was leading Uchiha to oblivion but like Itachi realized later on, the Uchiha could have been changed had he not went batshit crazy.

He didnt have to take everyones life. He and Shisui together could have changed things through love of their clan. They loved Konoha more than their clan. Naruto would never give on Sasuke like Itachi gave up on his clan, thats why Itachi entrusted Sasuke to Naruto. Love.

Itachi and Shisui let themselves be used and tried to handle things alone. Had they been totally in synch with working together and actually stood up against the Danzo, the elders, their clan etc. The coup could still be mitigated.

Damn Uchihas depend on themselves to damn much. Power poisons them into thinking they have to shoulder all burdens and responsibility. They forget they have capable comrades.
