First off lets start with the Totsuka Blade:

Orochimaru claims that Tosuka Blade seals anyone and anything it pierces. This is backed by the manga because not only did it seal Orochimaru and his curse mark. But it also sealed his summoning along with it.

The shield is said to turn back and repel any attack.

Rightfully meaning no matter the attack Yata will change itself so it can match the characteristics and inherent abilities of the attack.

The entry of Yata says here that attacks of even astral, ninjutsu and physical attacks "lose their meaning". It makes complete sense.

Changing it's characteristics via. 360

Like the Totsuka Blade, they are said to have no physical form. So it simply cannot be destroyed, this is backed the manga and databook.

If Totsuka is so great how did Oro get summond from it.

The weapons are spiritual that needs susanoo to be physical and have an effect.

Totsuka is as strong as fodder Sword of Kusanagi when it comes to cutting everything.

Yata sucks and can't even block sound waves.
