[Discussion] Does Narutobase concur that Hunter X Hunter 2011 is the greatest

DBZ is fun to watch but honestly is 4/10 in writing quality. The plethora of plot holes, cliches, character undevelopment is off the charts. Fun to watch, but in no way good writing

I really don't care about the new dragon ball because it really died on me but DBZ deserves at least a 6 in my opinion.

Objectively speaking the only thing Dragon ball's got going for it are epicness, badassery, creativity and humor. Otherwise the story is just a cartoon. Nothing wrong with that, but it can't be called anything but nostalgic and epic entertainment.

Again, I find DBZ addicting to watch at times, it's funny, epic, badass, but objectively the writing isn't anything to brag over. It is a fun anime, but sometimes I wish there weren't such glaring inconsistencies, such as the power levels at times

The fights are just punching and kicking and blasts. There's no nuance, no variety of techniques, no strategy, no skill, just power levels. I find that boring. Goku vs Frieza and Vegeta vs Goku were epic, but the overall fight structure in DBZ can get boring.

First, you said cliches, how could DBZ be a cliche when it practically created all those "cliches"? It's original because it was one of the first to do what it did.

You can argue that the fight structure is boring but to me, it's awesome, because it's raw fighting. Few anime do that. They also manage to give you all that in a surprisingly intelligent way.

It deserves a 10/10 not because it's the best Shonen but because it made Shonen.

Everything after DBZ is just milking though.

Hunter x Hunter is probably the best shounen (or one of the best), and no it is not overrated. An overrated anime would be Steins Gate or Code Geass (to a lesser degree).
