[Nin] Ryóma learns Ninjutsu with Souji

Watching on as Souji made three clones, Tiashe answered. Well, from what I can gather, the advantages would be that the opponent can get frightened, confused and distracted. It can also be used in long range, so effectively it can confuse the opponent on a large scale. Since it is just a distraction, the user could be hiding somewhere in the background and then attack. Or, they could be out in the open to fool the opponent. If I had to use it myself, I would probably use it after executing the hidden mist Jutsu, or a smoke bomb, and then make these clones whilst moving closer to the opponent. And then as soon as the mist or smoke clears, I'll attack from a very close range.

Now, disadvantages would be that these clones can not attack, so if the opponent tries to attack one of them and they realise it does not work, they will not waste their time with the clones, and will just wait for the user to appear. Also, this technique will not fool Doujutsu users as they will be able to see that there is no chakra in these clones.

And uh, I have a question with this technique Sensei. Am I able to perform other techniques whilst this technique is active?

After nodding his head whilst listening to the instructions very carefully, Tiashe took up a throwing stance in which he had his knees slightly bent and his upper body slightly tilted forward. He put his right hand into his ninja pouch which is attached to his right leg and found a Shuriken by feeling his way through. As soon as his hands came into contact with it, Tiashe leaked a small amount of chakra from his hand into the Shuriken. He did this whilst it was still in his pouch, so an opponent would not be able to tell. They would just think he is grabbing something out. When Tiashe took the chakra infused Shuriken out from his pouch, he threw it in one fluid moment towards the first clone who was standing around five metres ahead of him. Whilst the Shuriken was traveling through the air, the Shuriken began to enlarge as Tiashe expanded his chakra. It made its way to the clone, but as it was about to hit, it phased right through the clone! Tiashe was already prepared for this, as he had just been informed of this clones ability by his teacher. It was, after all, just a projection of chakra. The Shuriken then landed on the floor behind the clone with a clank.

Next, Tiashe stood in front of the second clone again with a distance of five metres. Reaching into his pouch, Tiashe grabbed a handful of Kunais and in his throwing stance, he threw them at the clone, in very quick successions. Again, they just went right through the clone, landing on the floor behind it. Tiashe knew that both these techniques were used for distracting an opponent.

Standing a few metres away from the third clone, Tiashe grabbed a Shuriken again and attached a ninja wire to it which was translucent, and threw this Shuriken at the clone. After going through the clone, Tiashe controlled the Shuriken via the strings to make the Shuriken turn around and attack from behind the clone with just a simple flick of his finger. However, since it just phased through the clone again, it made its way to Tiashe, so using the string, he quickly changed the trajectory of the Shuriken, allowing it to whiz past him. He then halted the Shuriken to come to a stop and asked his Sensei a question.

So, when I take the Shuriken out of my pouch, do I attach the wire at that time to the Shuriken or will it already be attached? Because if I have to attach it right there and then, the opponent will be able to see it. In that case, I will have to do it when the opponent is preoccupied with another one of my techniques.

And uh, I have a question with this technique Sensei. Am I able to perform other techniques whilst this technique is active?

"Yes, you can do that!"

So, when I take the Shuriken out of my pouch, do I attach the wire at that time to the Shuriken or will it already be attached? Because if I have to attach it right there and then, the opponent will be able to see it. In that case, I will have to do it when the opponent is preoccupied with another one of my techniques.

"The best way to utilize this jutsu is to throw the shuriken first, then allow the near-invisible string to attach onto it. This prompts your enemy to react to the initial shuriken coming towards them, but then be caught off-guard when it suddenly changes its path. Apologies; I made a slight mistake in describing it. You attach the string to manipulate the shuriken's path AFTER you throw it."

Souji dissipated his clones.

"Well done! Those were the basic D-ranks... now we move on to the C-rank techniques. These require more chakra input but can potentially deal more damage."

"Our first C-rank technique has you using explosive paper tags. More advanced users use sealing tags, but that requires knowledge of fuuinjutsu. In any case, take a couple of tags and channel your chakra through them. These tags will then be able to be hidden in inanimate objects, serving as a trap or surprise for an unsuspecting opponent. Since this technique requires some setup, try using it under the cover of a jutsu or with clones. Furthermore, you won't fool dojutsus or sensors."

Nodding his head, Tiashe listens to the answers with interest. Interesting, that's even better then. To add the string after throwing the Shuriken, that will make it very unpredictable indeed.

Hm, the D-Ranks were quite a lot. Glad to be on the next rank Sensei. Tiashe is eager to start the next rank and listens to Souji's instructions.

He fishes around his ninja pouch for a moment, before taking out two explosive tags. Whilst he is holding them, he channels his chakra through them via his fingers. Then he walks a few metres ahead and plants the into the ground using his chakra. He returns back to his spot, and he detonates them then, causing the ground to rupture, and had there been anyone standing there, their legs might have been injured.

I think Sensei, that I would use this technique not very often, since it would require great timing skills, something which may be difficult to achieve in the middle of a battle. If I did use it, I would perhaps plant these tags all around the area when I can not be seen from the opponent. Also, I could use it even in the middle of a battle, by getting close enough to the target, then I could secretly plant it in the ground behind them if I throw a Kunai or something on them first. Then, moving away from the target, I could throw a Jutsu at them, and make them move either forwards or backwards. As the target does that, I will detonate the tags when they move onto that spot.

Clapping his hands together, he grinned and continued.

"Next, we'll cover scroll-based weapon techniques. These are the trademark jutsus of Tenten, the legendary Konoha kunoichi!"

"Essentially, how these work is a set of weapons are sealed into a scroll using Fuuinjutsu. One can't do this on their own without knowledge of the sealing arts, but that's why most shinobi carry them pre-made or buy them at stores. When you channel your chakra into these scrolls, the seal breaks, and the weapons are summoned, launched, or whatever the user intends the weapon to do."

"I've laid out these scrolls. Go over them one at a time; they have markers to indicate what type of weapon is inside."

"First, find the one that has spiky metal balls sealed into it. Unravel it, and channel your chakra to release the metal balls in a rotating fashion around yourself."

"And finally, use the scroll that's left and summon a chain that wraps around your desired target, trapping them. While they're trapped, unravel a second scroll that shoots weapons at them. Simple enough, yeah?"

"Just practice all these techniques so you get a hang of channeling chakra to summon weapons and learning about the principles of scroll based jutsus. I know it's a lot, but you can do it!" Souji said encouragingly.

Tiashe eyes the set of scrolls that Souji puts in front of him. After listening to the instructions, Tiashe looks for the scroll that has the spiky metal ball marker on it and he grabs it. Standing a safe distance away from Souji so as not to hit him, Tiashe sends his chakra through the scroll which breaks the seal. As this happens, the scroll rotates around his body and a number of spiky metal balls are released. This would prevent anyone from coming close to him, and could also injure several people at once.

He then takes two more scrolls and unravels them on the ground in front of him. He imagines that there is a person there. From the scrolls appear many different types of weapons and had there been someone there, they would have been thrown into the air. He then takes out a chain and flings it into the air, before smashing it into the ground.

Next, Tiashe takes another scroll and channeling his chakra through it, he starts to wave it around in front of him in a circular motion. This causes the scroll to turn into a giant chain hammer with a huge metal ball at the end of it, which would crush the opponent. He then channels chakra through it again and turns it back into a scroll.

Tiashe again takes out two scrolls and jumps into the air. As he does this, the scrolls twirl and unravel, and out from them come out a large amount of Kunai which are connected by strings. Tiashe uses these strings to make the Kunai move around.

Picking up the last scroll, Tiashe channels his chakra into it and a large chain appears. He would wrap this around his target and whilst they are trapped, he would use another scroll to summon another set of weapons which would hit the bound target.

By the end of these five scroll techniques, the floor around Tiashe is littered with many different types of weapons. Only a clear circle remains where he is standing.

"Wow, good work. That's a lot of techniques you just pulled off there. No mistakes at all!"

"Now, we continue. This next technique is a great defense wherein you touch an earthen material take on its properties. Another usage is where you can turn your body into a sand-like material that can be used as a supplement for other jutsus. The first use is far more popular, though. Note that you can gain durability from materials such as rocks or mud, but you'll also gain their weaknesses. The best way to counter a user that tries this is lightning, Earth's natural nemesis."

Description: The user can take on the properties of any earthen material they touch and harden any part of there body. This jutsu also lets the user turn into fine grains of rock that can be used to do another jutsu. The issue with using this technique is that the user will gain all the weaknesses of the material they mimic, even if they are granted their strengths.

"I'm now going to attack you with three different jutsus. I want you to pick up a rock from the ground and use it as a medium from which you'll harden your body to be able to defend from these techniques. You can harden your entire body at once, or just selective parts, depending on the angle of attack."

"Ready?"

Souji would throw nails in the air, which would then fall on the ground surrounding Tiashe. The nails dug themselves into the ground, and Souji would form a handseal, causing the nails to erupt from the ground and head towards Tiashe in all directions around him.

(Gyorai Shin) - Torpedo Needle

When the opponent walks over the ground where the nails dug themselves in, nails pin their feet stopping their movement. Then, the user forms a hand seal and hundreds of nails shoot out of the ground at the opponent.

Should Tiashe use the jutsu properly to defend himself from the nails, Souji would then follow up by forming a handseal and spitting nails out of his mouth, towards Tiashe's chest.

Behind the cover of the nails, Souji would then reveal a special umbrella (out of nowhere because plot no jutsu u_u) and throw it upward. The umbrella would open up and shoot senbon from the air, downward towards his student.

Aha, thank you Sensei.

So I have to use the same defense each time? I see...

Holding a rock in his hand like his teacher advised him to, Tiashe noticed as Souji threw nails around him. Nothing seemed to happen...yet. But then, as Souji made a hand seal, the nails erupted out from the ground and started to shoot towards him from all around his body. In response, Tiashe mimicked the properties of the rock he was holding and changed his whole body to that of the rocks properties. As the nails hit him, he did not feel anything due to his covering, and so they just fell on the floor.

After Tiashe returned to normal, Souji made another hand seal, and this time, nails shot out from his mouth. They travelled towards Tiashe at about chest level. Again, Tiashe hardened his body, but this time only his chest. Tiashe then noticed his Sensei holding an umbrella, and soon after, it opened up and Senbon were being shot toward him. Once again, Tiashe used the rock he was holding to harden his body, and he was again left unharmed.

I think this technique takes too much time to set up. The opponent can easily intercept the attack at the beginning when the scrolls are being set. Also, the user is vulnerable in the air to stronger as well as elemental attacks from the opponent on the ground. It's still good though, as it showers down weapons on the opponent.

This technique works well in either short or mid range, preferably short range. This will allow for the opponent to have less time to react. Also, this technique has a fast execution rate, as the weapons are already ready; they are just waiting to be thrown. And since they are suspended in the air, the opponent would not be able to predict where they would go. And the wait would also create suspense and pressure the opponent. This is a nice technique, but of course it is weak against elemental attacks.
With this technique, can the weapons be manipulated and moved around as they are traveling to the opponent? Or would they just go as a straight line?

This is pretty good and can be deadly if used strategically. Since the user can set the paper bomb off from a large instance, they have a wide range of options. If the opponent enters their firing zone, the user can set the bombs off. Since the opponent would be caught off guard, unless they possessed a Doujutsu, they would be blown up, depending on how many paper bombs were released around them. This is also great to combat against many opponents. A very handy technique indeed.

This one again involves the user being in the air, just like the first, except this one has the user spinning around rapidly whilst simultaneously releasing a continuous amount of Kunai in all directions around them. This is good to use against a multitude of shadow clones who attack from all sides. It is also very fast spinning, and it covers all angles.

This technique is not used for any offensive purposes. It is just a means of communication to a wider population to allow them to receive a message. It can however be used to divert an opponents attention, and therefore being able to attack them more easily.

This is also a technique in which the activation of the bombs depend on the user. So when they are thrown, the opponent can be held in suspense as to when they would explode. It could also confuse them, and ruin their timings of when the would defend against it. They may defend against the bombs too early, and then the user can actually set them off after the opponent is not protected anymore.

I like this format. I will still be speaking as Souji-sensei, my character, but will switch to a more discussion-based format. That way, I can reply a little faster and allow us to dwell on each jutsu should it be needed.

B-rank time!

For this one, you simply mold your chakra throughout your body to merge with any objects around you. Preferably, you should do this on solid objects, but I've seen instances for viscous liquids. Don't try it unless it's really justified, though

You can't be detected AT ALL, unless your opponent has a Sharingan, Byakugan, or Rinnegan. This is a great counter to sensors. Problem is, you can only use techniques by FULLY unmerging from the object or ground, making you detectable again.

Now, suppose you have me caught off-guard. I can't detect you until you reveal yourself. How and where would you reveal yourself to strike me? Also, what jutsu might you use so that I have less of a chance to detect you? (hint; try thinking of a stealth technique or maneuver you've learned)

(Hiru Banshō: Bōka no Jutsu) - Leech All Creation: Attack Prevention Technique

Description: Using this jutsu, the user can merge with another passive object and take on its properties to avoid any damage. While merged, the user is virtually undetected unless the enemy has a doujutsu. Even chakra sensors won't be able to pinpoint the users position. The limitation of the technique is that to use a technique and mold chakra, the user must fully unmerge although doing so doesn't produce any sound and the user can only be sensed once fully unmerged. The user is still aware of the world outside the object and can travel inside it at his normal running speed. The technique was used so far by 3 ninjas (Yamato, Orochimaru and Uchiha Madara) but as an advanced ninjutsu, it can be used by any skilled enough ninja.
Note: the user must be Sannin Rank and above
Note: Orochimaru and Yamato can use it 5 times per battle, Uchiha Madara can use it 3 times, other ninjas can use it twice.
Note: Cannot merge into mediums which aren't tangible

By forming a Ram seal, you place your palms on where there might be the possibility of a weapon tag that's hidden. You draw it out with this jutsu and deactivate it. Simple enough to take care of traps, but a useful technique against trap-users!

(Hiru Banshō: Bōka no Jutsu) - Leech All Creation: Attack Prevention Technique

Quite a nice technique. I like how the user can travel throughout the object at normal running speed. And it's a pretty good way to escape when in danger since the opponent will have no idea where the user is. Even if the opponent tries something, the user can see what is going on. Although the user can not protect themselves at the time they are within the object, they can unmerge when they find they are in danger, and then protect themselves.

Well, if you are caught off guard, I would appear behind you, because if I appear in front of you, you would be able to see me unmerging from the ground right before you, therefore allowing you to attack me easily. So, when I unmerge behind you, you would not be able to sense me until I am completely unmerged from the object. So before you get the chance to notice me, I would use a stealth technique like one of the following two for you not to be able to detect me straight away. Then I can attack more easily.

Description: Muon Satsujin Jutsu, the ability to commit a silent homicide, is a technique to dispatch your foe with no warning. Your quick speed and skills will instantly kill them before they can provide a defense. Best tactic is when used with Hidden Mist jutsu. The technique works by having the user focus his chakra and his complete attention on moving fluidly, rapidly but muffling any sound he may make while moving as well as his presence, etc. It doesn't suppress his chakra or hides it but it can make the opponent virtually undetected if he manages to get on the opponents blind spot.

This technique could prove to be quite handy against opponents who like using explosive tags. It seems quite convenient that the user can just draw the tag out, and even extinguish its explosive properties whilst doing so, along with the fact that only one hand seal is required. With this technique, can multiple tags be gathered to the hand, or is it only one at a time?

The clone itself can also utilize any jutsu the original ninja knows. When the clone finally disperses, any new knowledge it has gained is passed back to the original ninja and any additional clones. Upon impact, the clone can be dispersed.

Tiashe points to one of them and says, You can be Teito. Then he points to the next one. Uh, guess you can be Mikage. And you, lets see... Ah, Hakuren. Tiashe kind of ran out of names for the last one, so he called him Tiashe 2.

Before he knew it, Tiashe's clones started running in all directions, but they somehow bumped into each other and dispersed themselves. 0-0 He sighed at their foolishness, but decided they could still come in use for many things. After all, four more of him would make endless possibilities in a battle.

You'll be learning to summon things now. Before you try out the jutsu I'm about to go over, tell me how you think a summoning works.

When you've done that, place your hands on this scroll and break the seal, summoning a large Rashomon gate which is capable of blocking large, moderately powerful jutsus. Once you summon it the first time, you won't need a scroll anymore... it's just for training purposes!

Uh, lets see... Well, to put it simply, summonings are usually summoned from scrolls. The user has to use their own blood and also chakra to open the seal which holds the scroll. But I think to summon weapons and objects, only chakra has to be used.

If we are talking about animal summonings, then a contract must first be made with the species the user wishes to have as a summoning. The contract is in the form of a scroll, and the contractor must sign it with their own blood. The name of the contractor must be written, as well as fingerprints. After this, whenever the user wants to summon the animal, they must draw out their own blood, perform the necessary hand seals and then place their hand onto the ground at the place they wish for the summon to appear at. Also, the amount of chakra drawn out in determines how powerful the summon will be. This was shown by Naruto, when at first he would only summon tadpoles haha. And another thing, if someone tries to summon an animal without having signed a contract, the user will be teleported to the home of the animal which they have a natural affinity for. This was shown by Jiraiya.

Tiashe holds a scroll which Souji has just given to him. He then gathers chakra in his right hand and, channeling it into his thumb, he releases it, where it breaks open the seal on the scroll. He watches in astonishment as an amazingly large wall with a scary form appears in front of him, blocking his view for a few metres either way.

Excellent. Summoning scrolls and summons in general utilize fuuinjutsu seals to keep their contents in such small packages.

Here is the base technique for reference. You don't actually use this jutsu to summon your contract. Instead, you learn it in order to be able to gain access to a summoning animal. So, as of this post, you can now officially sign a summoning contract! Congratulations!

To summon the creature the ninja will wipe blood on his hand, perform the Boar → Dog → Bird → Monkey → Ram handseals and then touch the ground or another object, where a sealing formula will appear. Though it appears that as long as significant pressure is placed against the blood in some form, the summon will be complete, most summoning uses use a solid surface, though in some cases it can even be done mid air. There can be variations to the summoning steps, some ninja like Temari will wipe blood on her fan, then by swinging the fan the animal is summoned. Other ninja like Orochimaru wipe the blood across a snake tattoo on their arm first, then touch the ground. Others will clap their hands directly like Nagato through the use of his Animal Path. The user must have signed the contract with the creature he wants to summon but the technique can be used to summon a generic creature of that contract (B-Rank) which will have no special traits or abilities beyond those normal to the rest of the animals in the contract. The animal is always summoned on the mark that appears upon slamming the users hand or, if not the case, always in short range of the user.

A reverse summoning allows your summoning contract to summon YOU, hence the "reverse" moniker. I think it's a useful means of escape from a battle if needed, or a way to surprise your opponent by disappearing from their sight.

(Gyaku Kuchiyose no Jutsu) – Reverse Summoning Technique

Description: This technique is the counterpart of the summoning technique, in which it allows an animal to summon the human that they have a contract with back to their side, regardless of where they are. The animal must be at least B-Rank in strength to have enough chakra to use the technique though all animals that can use Ninjutsu in any form can use this technique on their summoners.

This Iron Maiden was used on the Animal Path during Pein's invasion of Konoha. It serves as a nice trap that can be used for interrogations. B-rank strength attacks or higher should be sufficient to break free of it if you ever find yourself in that situation.

For the Rashomon technique we just went over, here are the triple and quintuple versions. Basically, you stack them in front of each other like dominoes, increasing their defensive capabilities. Self-explanatory: the triple can block up to A-rank techniques, and the Quintuple can block up to S.

This technique can defend the user against any S-Rank technique but, due to its enormous scale, becomes hard to use in most situations because of the area one needs to summon the gates.

Nope, unless the contract requires you to do so xd and that's only to form the bond with the animal. In a fight you can now summon them directly like how they do so in the manga/anime.

If you recall, the Toads summoned Naruto to Mt. Myo when he was training to learn Sage Mode. That's exactly how a reverse summon works; the animal summons YOU. So think about this scenario: you're in a battle, and your target traps you and is about to finish you off with a powerful move. Your summon is on the other side of the battlefield. You can command your summon to summon you to their location, freeing you from that trap. It's a good method for evasion and escape if things get too sticky. There are also other creative uses but I can leave it to you to try them out for yourself

An important thing to note is that regular ninjutsu techniques are neutral to all elements. Wind or Lightning would be equally as effective, in my opinion. And yes, I believe the summon emerges from the ground, just at the right speed to attempt and snare your target.

These two jutsus function similarly in that they cover you in a dome shape. However, each one has distinct properties. I personally prefer the first one; you can manipulate the dome to turn it into binding strings. So... a good strategy would be to form the dome as an enemy comes close trying to punch you (as per the description it can block up to A-rank tai), then when they make contact, turn the dome into binding strings that trap them! I myself wonder why this technique isn't used as often among fighters, because it's underestimated in my opinion.

These are nice techniques, but I'll have to watch out if the opponent tries using lighting to pierce through it. And also, I will not be able to see outside the dome whilst I am inside, right? That could be bad, because when I remove the dome, the opponent could be right there. xD But they are pretty nice defenses. I like the versatile nature of the first one, and as for the second one, how it can fit a team in it. Btw, if we can not see through the first one, can we manipulate the metal strings in such a way so that there is a hole large enough to see what is going on outside?

The cool thing is that the technique itself does not manipulate the strings to form a complete dome; but rather, a lattice weave similar to a net. You CAN see the outside. So in reality, you're more vulnerable to techniques that can seep or penetrate through the dome's pores rather than you not being able to see. Here is a picture from the anime as a reference:

These next four jutsus are part of the "Manipulated Tools" branch; all of these techniques are Tenten's signature style: weapon/scroll based barrages.

Multi-Blade Chaos has you summoning weapon that can lift targets into the air and assault them by swinging them around and chaining attacks together. Note that you can't use other jutsus while controlling the weapons.

Weapon Gun are a bunch of tools (shurikens, kunais, etc) that you can fire at your target like... a machine gun. Simple and to the point. This one is relatively redundant, in my opinion, though.

Spinning Swallow Show utilizes tonfa: police batons! It starts off with a simple dual tonfa strike and a subsequent bo strike.
The tonfa and bo are unique in what sense? Tell me a little bit about their properties and how they differ from say... bladed weapons.

And finally, Heavenly Steel Disaster is a good trap where you unravel a scroll above your target, raining down kunais and chains which trap and pierce your target.
