The first death that changed a demon heart and deserve to be respected was Haku.
The second death that saves life of a good leader, kazekage. Chiyo sama also deserves the honor.
The third honorable death is Jiraiya, he gave everything, for the sake of peace and his student.
The fourth is Itachi, he spent his whole life for the sake of village til the very end. The only minus from me is he spare no innocent (child) and his parents.
The fifth is Neji, he died to shield for Naruto, a friend honor death.

They sacrificed their lives to save their son - Minato sacrificed his soul to save the village. That's the way I see it anyway... should have been a bit less of a martyr and have let Hiruzen do the job, what good is he to Konoha as Yodaime if he's dead?

That's disrespectful.
Minato died protecting his newborn baby, wife, and Village he lead.
His wife just gave birth and had Kyuubi extracted and still had the strength to get up to help protect her baby.

The Kyuubi was trying to stab their baby but they got in the way to protect each other.
I wonder if you'd find that annoying if your parents protected a newborn you like that.
