That's disrespectful.
Minato died protecting his newborn baby, wife, and Village he lead.
His wife just gave birth and had Kyuubi extracted and still had the strength to get up to help protect her baby.

The Kyuubi was trying to stab their baby but they got in the way to protect each other.
I wonder if you'd find that annoying if your parents protected a newborn you like that.
I agree, any one can die by anything, even by the most stupid thing, but the reason behind it is more important.

Jiraiya, Minato, Kushina, and Tobirama. Itachi died to appease the bad feelings he had towards his sins, not out of honor. Kisame died aiding a criminal and terrorist organization; you guys think the people that died protecting Osama or in suicidal bombings are honorable?

Obito for obvious reasons.
Confucius did say ¨Honorable be the man that sets a house on fire, then feels regret and dies putting it out after it's half burnt.¨

Yeah he screwed up but his final moments were pretty respectable.

If my parents died to protect me - of course I'd be grateful. If they died needlessly, I'd be pissed off.

The Kyuubi was trying to stab their baby but they got in the way to protect each other.

He died protecting his newborn son, yes. Not his wife or the village - he fought for them and sacrificed his soul but gaining that fatal wound was by protecting Naruto.
And yes, Kushina's stamina/endurace is admirable, impressive too.

It's just the fact they both died impaled by a nail, a single nail, I find exasperating. Considering everything that occured before hand, the feats they achieved and it's a single nail from the Kyubi that brings them both down.

It's a great that they both wanted to save Naruto, but there's a point where living for the child is equally important. There was opperunity for one of them to survive, for someone other than Minato to do the sealing but he assumed that task because he felt it was his responsibility to die for the village...
... it would have been better for Naruto and the village, if he had lived.

*sigh* I don't know... I just see Minato and Kushina and I think of lemmings.

I'll be right over and I'll stab you in the spinal cord with a knife that's half an inch thick. If you can walk away from that, then you can talk about how pitiful it is to die because a monster shoved its thicker-than-a-tire claw through your entire midsection.

You sound so ridiculous. Kurama at the time was larger than ten buildings put together and could level a city block with one swipe. You bet your ass its claw going right through you is gonna kill you. It'd kill anyone bar regeneration.

Not to mention Minato also used the jutsu that kills him as an effect and Kushina had a Tailed Beast ripped out of her, something that was stated multiple times to be fatal.

Yeah. Because this is manga-land where ridiculous injuries like that are a reality

I'm not negating their feats - I'm just disappointed at how they went out. Plot holes. Oppertunities for one of them to survive. But no, there's a stubborn resolution that persists in the nobility of becoming a martyr.

Dying is easy, giving your life up isn't difficult - for a shinobi, or a parent - it's a fact, an instinct, it's normal. I'm not sure why I should slap an award medal on something that should be a given.
Surviving and enduring what comes after is the harder, (to me) more admirable part.

A shinobi that was aiding a terrorist organization.
One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. It's all perspective.

After all, to the people of Konoha Minato Namikaze was their beloved Yodaime Hokage, the Yellow Flash, their saviour and war hero. He was loved and adored by the people, so much so he gained recognition and support to become their leader.
In Iwagakure he was a notorious mass-murderer who slaughtered their people in their hundreds, if not more. He was probably one of the most hated and riviled men in their nation.
