In my country Black people have privilaged spots in University...
I hate it
Brazil? Even if it isn't, in brazil it happens. In fact, not just black people. Poor people as well. Oh, and now they're thinking that gay people should have such spots as well. And most people support this(if you don't support it, you're a called a capitalist conservative opressor) by saying that "they were opressed before, they need this now. It's equality". This argument makes no sense whatsover, as this wouldn't be equality, but compensation. And let's face it, that's what a considerable ammount of people from the "opressed minorities" want.

Better car deals and service.

Went to rent a tuxedo for my ex's prom in may. Every white person that walked in after me was immediately helped. Didnt mind but that's just an example of white privilege lol
I doubt that had anything to do with your skin color. The last time i went to get a tux the people all stood there and stared at me like idiots until thestore manager walked in. I'm white it's a matter of perception in some situations .

Yes Brazil, it isn't equality, it's racism, because they think that black and poor people need special spots because they can't pass to to college themselves

Exactly. And not only that, it harms the rest of the people as well. A more intelligent student, more prepared, might lose his spot to other one, less prepared, because this onewas black. It's pathetic. But let's face it. Our country is ruled by this blind moralism. Remember those f*ckers that broke into a lab claiming that the "animals were being opressed", destroyed everything, including important researches, and weren't even punished?

I agree, and I fear this might happen to me, as I will do the Enem in 3 years by now
And now they say that gays also need special spots
For the love of god...
I saw some people saying that they'll go to public schools just to get the special spots

Can there actually be equality without compensation though? Equal opportunities and equality are two different things. Fact of the matter is that typically, whites will have better socio-economic backgrounds than blacks, and those with more creditable backgrounds will always be favoured.

What is equality anyway? It just seems so vague when you really think about it.

They have the same rights, make them study so they can pass it without the special spots
My mother is a teacher at college, she said that most of the time the people that pass throught the special spots can't keep up with the others and thus can't finish the course

It's not even debatable, white people have the benefit of the doubt over any skin colour. Only because 'equality' is said to be existent, doesn't mean it's necessarily true. Absolute equality will never exist, while fallacious ideologies will always be perpetuated.

Equality is nothing more, nothing less than all the groups of society having the same rights guaranteed by law, as they are all seen and respected as citizens. And yes, there can be equality without compensation. In fact, compensation is a mistake. And do you know why? Because compensation means that the previously opressed group would have more rights than the other regular groups. And that will cause hatred. Hatred that can be seen, in fact. Or isn't it true that there is a lot of anti-feminists out there? And they were created because of these compensatory measures.

You can't expect the problem to dissapear overnight. Things aren't like that. It takes time, it takes patience to fix such big problems. If you try to rush it without looking at the consequences of what you're doing, you're just going to create more problems.

Compensatory measures are nothing more than repeating the same mistake made in the past with the opposite group. By trying to give the "opressed groups" the same opportunities in a rushed way, and sometimes, by a twisted concept of equality, extremists try to take away the essencial rights of the regular groups. What happens next? In a few years, the regular groups will tend to hate the previously opressed minorities for this exact reason. So they'll fight against that setting, as the opressed minorities are fighting now. So, you create a freaking cicle, and instead of erasing hatred, you reinforce it.

Does that sound like a solution? I don't think so.

you can't get equality with that mindset, you're a slave to your arrogance,
You lash us with whips, force us to pick cotton, and even after the ending of slavery. Society looks upon us with scorn. I have a dream that one day a man will truly not be judged by his skin color but by his actions.

Exactly. It's pathetic. I am currently at university. I did enem last year, and thankfully, I was able to enter ufmg. But once you enter it, you'll notice that many people support these measures, the "cotas". And I'll warn you right now: If you're against such mindset, and you've shown in this thread, stay as far as you can from "human sciences" people. There's something VERY wrong with them.
