Why are Mangas not as popular as American comics(in both sales and story quality)?

If you go to Japan I highly doubt you will find more American comic readers there than manga readers... same story in America

I read both. Granted that I am the only one of my friends that reads comics or Manga/anime.

actually you cant really blame *********** seeing how they only upload the latest chapters then encourage people to go support the manga series

Manga is to japan what comics are to america. Theyre both more popular where they originated.

I live in america, and i know absolutly nobody who reads american comics, though quite a few manga readers.

i live in india and i have people reading both though manga is less since most of them dont know abt japanese but they know DBZ and think its a western cartoon!

Nah, in america yeah if yoi go to asia every freaking week probably 7 in the morning to 11 theres a 3 animes like doraemon , flame of recca, ghost fighter, so when u think about it moron... things takes time.

There are a lot of manga with nice story development.

i never thought like that but comic readers always say that comics are more popular because of story quality which i doubt.they go as far as saying that comics are popular in japan and china and hence they have better story and batman is present i have read Wolverine series and its my favourite but nothing comes close to Naruto and Dragonball!.

Only in America I guess. I don't know anyone who reads American comics here

Have you read DC New 52 comics, they are awful.
Most of Marvel comics are either mediocre or recycled great stories from the past. Just look at Marvels plan for the future, you'll see lot of familiar title names.

i havent read DC and i hate it. my favourite is Marvel wolverine.

Personally, I have no interest in the typical comic books, the whole superhero stuff. I'm a huge fan of Jhonen Vasquez's work though, [JTHM, Squee.] Whether it's Japanese or western doesn't matter to me, but what's popular in Japan has a lot more variety that the outdated stereotypes we have here about comic books. You like comic books, you like superheros! is still the idea most people have, you know, when we have so many other types of comics.

Comics been out longer
They're in color
Movies are actual movies.

U.S. have more economy than Japan, so their products will have more sales. Besides, comics have been longer and they've been viewed in movies, as well.
