[Question] What diff would Zoro defeat Drugs Hordy underwater?

How is Hody stronger? because he was introduced later and fought a progressed Luffy? People use this argument all the time with neglecting the fact characters have to seem stronger once the lead powers up as well. That doesn't mean they could beat an earlier villain. Croc got beat by pre-skip Luffy yet he could beat Moriah. It's not just OP either Zabuza lost to Kakashi but Zabuza could have beaten some of the Akatsuki.

Back to my point though how is Hody stronger than Arlong? In the flashbacks Arlong was stronger, the only way/reason Hody would be stronger is he had more time to develop, which is an unfair comparison. If you took Arlong and Hody at the same point in time Arlong would be stronger.

Zoro couldn't hold his breath any longer and was able to cut him once, it was not enough to take out base hody and he retaliated.

I can see him winning on land, but underwater is Hody's domain.

Even Luffy didn't beat Hody underwater, he needed to get to the deck of Noah to finish the fight. And Luffy used the speed of fishmen to move around in the water, Zoro would be a sitting duck.

Under water Zoro stands no chance, on the land he defeats him comfortably.

I agree we can't really say one way or another but I can use past events to influence my decision on a what if type scenario and "what if" neither ever ran into Luffy results in Arlong being stronger than Hody. Arlong and Enel(despite how strong they were) are two of the many unfortunate characters to get trapped in a part 1 curse.

Why ? He would be immobile in the water. That bubble only goes forward when you're walking or running in it. His speed would be limited and he is up against someone who doubles his speed in the water.

Even Luffy used Shirahoshi and Fukaboshi to move in the water. Hody only needs one shot to burst that bubble.

At EL Luffy took much, much more of a beating than Zoro

At ID and MF Luffy took more of a beating than Zoro did in the entire part 1 ...

If anything Liffy is more durable than Zoro

Who is this Liffy you speak of? Also have you forgotten the part about Luffy being rubber and typical attacks not hurting him? Luffy could take multiple punches before it equaled the force Zoro takes from one hit because Luffy's body can morph and displace the force of a punch. Also this isn't even about Luffy and Zoro it's about Sanji and Zoro so you can stop mentioning Luffy's main character level durability about 3 posts ago as it's rather irrelevant to the topic. Also(yes there's a lot of also's I'm aware) Zoro at TB took ALL of Luffy's damage plus whatever his own body had already endured before hand.
