It's only "stupid and wrong" because you don't agree with it. I'd love to know how Naruto's going to defeat Sasuke without killing him, how's he going to put Sasuke on his back once and for all?
By killing him? Nope, because as Ashura's successor he would have reached the same flawed conclusion as his predecessor, Hashirama. The cycle of hatred will just continue, also it would spit in the face of the promise Naruto made with Sakura, his ninja way, etc (Oh and the small fact that Sasuke's alive and well in the movie, that counts too I guess.)
By Ko'ing him? How's he going to do that, exactly? With a rasengan/rasen shuriken/lava rasengan/bijuu bomb? But wait a minute...Won't that kill Sasuke?
By exhausting him to the point where he can't use chakra? Nope, because Sasuke will still have enough chakra to dispel IT.
You forget that one of the key themes of this manga is that the current generation are supposed to surpass the those who preceeded them. While Naruto and Sasuke will certainly fight one another, the battle between the two of them won't end with a victor this time. If Sasuke loses, do you honestly think he'll just accept that? His ego wouldn't allow him to. Nothing willl change, he'll just skulk away and seek more power and thus the cycle will continue. Naruto must resolve this conflict in a way in which no egos will be bruised, Sasuke's not losing. Get over it.
