Itachi was like 6-10 years of age when the attack occurred, he didn't have access to MS until was 14, several years later. Obito already had access to MS by the time of the attack (obviously). This wasn't even a vs. thread but Obito during the attack wins hands down when going against Itachi during the time of the attack.

ot: No one from Akatsuki would mess with Konoha with him as Hokage. He'd be the best one they'd ever had and the village would be at it's safest point. He'd also get medical treatment for his illness, if he'd even acquire it then. He wouldn't go blind during his reign, considering that as a Hokage, you only fight under dire circumstance, because you send out other shinobi to complete missions for you. He'd be just fine as would Konoha.

For people saying it doesn't fit his style or that he's a loyal soldier... this was the man who was set up to be in the spot light as the future Uchiha heir. If Hiruzen had made Itachi the next Hokage, the Uchiha massacre would have been avoided and Itachi would have taken this path. The only reason he followed orders and became a soldier is because he had no other alternatives. In this case, he would. The only problem he might have is dealing with all the praise he'd probably receive. He's too humble to accept it, lol.

everything would have gone smoothly. itachi becomes hokage so the uchihas are satisfied and terms are worked out. orochimarus invasion fails miserably because the entire uchiha clan is now super devoted to village. but on the other hand obito now has no deterrent in akatsuki and might send pain and konan to capture naruto way earlier like in part 1 when nobody is ready to fight the akatsuki besides itachi and hiruzen and itachi is still sick so they'd be at a disadvantage

No, he wasn't. He was referring to Itachi at the time of the Nine-tails attack, still a young child who would not have had much access to Uchiha abilities.

There is a chance that the Uchihas would had probably liked Itachi as Hokage, since they'd expect Itachi to show favoritism towards them and probably think that they have the run of the village.

Itachi though is more interested in the village as a whole rather than one clan, so they probably would had ended up calling him a Senju dog and attacked anyway.
