It's not an overstatement. They were eradicated, they exist no more, Jews still exist uchiha do not there is a big difference. Tobirama made them hated by the village civilians because people typically hate the police just like I do and by further segregating them to the outside of the village shows Tobirama hate for them and then danzo stopped shi sui from using ka on the uchiha clan thus forcing hiruzen to make itachi kill them and now everyone wants uchiha power but no one wants to be an uchiha. It's just like everyone wants to be black, dress like black people, act like black people but no one wants to be black.

Why would they trust the Uchiha? The Uchiha were all predisposed to be emotional basket cases anyway, and, Tobirama gave them a job head be good at to try and give their negative qualities positive expressions.

Edit: Let's see, first off, most of the villains have been Uchiha, but, if you need a count down, Sasuke, Madara, Obito, Indra, Fugaku (depending on your point of view), and basically those involved in the coup (again, according to your point of view). They were even predisposed towards hatred and madness.

They got eradicated because they chose war over peaceful negotiations(not that I agree with that). I was talking about their treatment before they planned a coup, . I havent seen any evidence that the Uchiha were hated at all. Sasuke was the darling boy of the academy and everyone pretty much hated Itachi for what he did. Yes the Uchiha were treated unfairly, but it wasn't so bad that they had to resort to a civil war IMO.

As for sasuke look at his point of view. What happened when he went to the leaf village, the shinobi at the diner were saying they are thankful itachi was dead they were saying they wished they got a chance to kill him and they laughed about it. This is a kid who went his whole life trying to kill his brother for what his brother did. So them shinobi at the diner laughing and praising itachi's death just made things worse. Sure those people had nothing to do with it but think about it like this... if a policeman kills someone wrongfully, the other policemen won't and have not ever turned on there fellow officer so it's like the other policemen may not be part of the wrongful death but they are a part of the police family.
