Aren't Kisame and Itachi equals powerwise?

Featwise they are not equals. Kisame has some large scale jutsus but still not comparable to some of Itachis deadliest.

Kisame is a high-level shinobi. However, in pt1 it was made clear by his remarks and behaviour that he knew Itachi was stronger than him. The databook also gives Itachi a higher score than Kisame.

That and in the Naruto Ninja Storm games, Kishimoto has to approve the storylines. Prior to Itachi fighting Sasuke, Itachi and Kisame fought a little. The fight ended with Itachi winning, because he caught Kisame in a genjutsu towards the start of the conflict.

But I do agree that Kisame is underrated and quite OP for an Akatsuki member. He'd be the 4th strongest out of that organization in my book.

Clearly not true. You have ninja who can kill one ninja with a ceremony and another who can obliterate an entire village in one attack. One who can be outmatched by one Uchiha kid and another who went to war against the entire ninja world.

OT: Every Akatsuki Member is in my opinion Kage level they are so underrated and all of them lost due to PnJ. And Kisame would take this fight on many aspects.
The only problem Kisame would have is Genjutsu and Susano'o but Itachi is limited. He can't keep up his techs for a long period of time.

Kisame has Water Dome for Yata Mirror. The belief that Yata Mirror encompasses a 360 degree radius is pure fan-fiction.


Kisame has Samedaha and Shark Bullet for Susanoo(it's made of chakra)


Totsuka Blitz isn't a real thing. Itachi has only shown to use Totsuka in reserve and only on stationary targets. Also again, Water Dome.


Tsukiyomi only works if Kisame looks into Itachi's eyes(which I'm sure he knows not to do)


Kisame has a larger chakra pool, and will outlast Itacih.




To be honest, I do think Itachi is stronger, but not by a whole lot. I'd say the outcome of their battle would be something like 60/40

Realistically speaking here, Itachi isn't starting a prolonged fight against the tailess tailed beast. Early Tsukyomi. If Kisame is smart enough to not make eye contact, he makes the situation even worse for himself, Sussano Totsuka sword swing, The sword isn't a chakra construct , it won't be absorbed, and Kisame doesn't have the speed or reflexes to truly help himself in that situation.

As far as amaterasu goes, we know samehada has a serious problem absorbing average katons, It would be interesting to see what happens when "inextinguishable" flames that are much hotter comes into play.

Kisame wasn't joking when he stated Itachi was in a league above him. Itachi wasn't the dominant one in the group for no reason
