Well, that is the case. That was what Kishimoto originally wanted, but was told to do otherwise.
Pain has never been concerned facing anyone and I'd say that's one of his greatest flaws. He underestimates his enemies.

Jiraiya was the strongest Shinobi in the leaf at that time (stated), so taking Jiraiya out before attacking was smart (Jiraiya alone would loose of course like we all saw but, with a group of strong Shinobi's like Kakashi/Gai would be dangerous) he even hid the reviver-path for obvious strategic purposes.

Pain never underestimated anyone (he knows what he's capable off), and he technically captured Naruto until the Kyuubi went on a rampage (wasn't Naruto himself), so that's different from "underestimating" someone.

again Tsunade stands no chance against him.

- Katsuyu can trap the dog in her body then reverse summon it to the Shikotsu forest
- Tsunade can use ransinhso to paralyze it
- She can break itsi bones with her kicks and punches
- She can simply ignore it and go after the animal path and defeat her

LOOL so since when does Katsuya have the speed feats to even trap Cerebrus? furthermore if this is SOMEHOW pulled off, Animal path can just summon him again :s he's summon all the paths before and they wasnt that far away from him so he can summon at will. So either way you look at it. Katsuya is not a factor here.

Yeah... because that worked well with Rasenshuriken didnt it? Its a manga fact that anytime cerebreus is damaged, it multiplies, the only move that has defeated it was Amatarasu. your assumptions based off of no evidence.

I actually could see Tsunade with war feats taking on Jiraiya.
They always seemed equals but now... :|

Oh yeah, he wanted to find out his fighting style first. So he did actually use some kind of tactic.

Tsunade does push him though, and if she's lucky deva wouldn't pull out the big guns immediately.

Deva is the only threat here.

"war feats" are you talking about her landing a punch on a reckless Madara who's goofing around with her and the other 4 Kage's ??

all that added is regeneration feats/close combat attacks.

and no, it would be a great fight to watch (Jiraiya vs Tsunade) but, they're not equal (a medic vs a combat specialist).

now on to the key point we were speaking off, she lacks the power/arsenal to compete with the formation of the 6path :

- summons that she can't handle (Animal path).

- Deva path (a huge problem alone).

- Asura path (long range attacks).

- Nakara path (if anyone gets taken out/don't see it happening).

- their formations (she will have a difficult time landing a hit on any of them with the shared vision/looking at her speed).

- other than punching and kicking she has nothing else against a top class COMBAT SPECIALIST.

Look at the abilities of Jiraiya and you will see why he took out 3 pains. The characters have two different set of skills.

New fights bring new feats and Jiraya said Tsunade was better at combat than himself. As she currently is I can already see her busting up those paths.

Deva path is probably the hardest one she would have to fight.

When pain attacked the village he even avoided seeking the intel out of Tsunade first. He couldn't afford a fight from her and try to find and capture Naruto. She would have put out, hype aside she can bust 4-5 of them with the intel she had.
