This is so incredibly depressing. I feel sorry for the pressure both of them felt. It's sad that Shisui had to die so young, and that Itachi lost his best friend who was the only one he could trust & had to carry that burden afterwards.

Just rewatched this episode. Itachi was going easy on Kakashi, Kurenai, Asuma, and Gai (quite evidently). Kisame and Itachi would have beaten them if Itachi hadn't been making excuses to leave in pt1 and were actually there to fight, instead of to just make a minor scene so that the jounin would report his presence to Danzo and the old man would remember his deal and not touch Sauce. U_U
This is an example of that. It doesn't show here in the gifs, but in the episode and in the manga, Itachi waits for Kurenai to break out of her own genjutsu before attempting to slash her. Itachi also has one of the fastest hand speeds, so fast that not even a sharingan can detect his movements for seals and throwing weapons (shown with Kakashi in this episode and Sasuke during their fight in pt2). He would have hit her if he wanted to. Also, instead of kicking her away, he could have stabbed her then if he wanted to. That and Itachi was expecting Kakashi to come, considering that in the manga there was no exclamation point or indication of surprise. Itachi even said his name without turning around to really see it was him. He knew he was coming. xD But Gai, there was an exclamation point in the panel. Gai is pretty random and unexpected. Then of course Kisame wanted to fight, but then Itachi stated that they were not there to start a war and fight anymore than needed, so they left. Itachi kept his cover as a double spy though, so it's fine. xD

Saddest death imo, mainly due to finding the truth out afterwards. I also like Sasuke's slight look of apprehension here, he's relieved to a point, but also deep down feeling disbelief, wondering if it's finally over. Though, Jiraiya's death was the most well-written.

Now we just have to wait for Infinite Tsukiyomi's weakness to be revealed. Still waiting for the next chapter as I assume you are, Chie.
