Because most people lack the love for introspection and refuse to analyze him deeper and find that his complexities as a character are enticing. I appreciate his character because he's truly unpredictable and harder to recognize than most characters. Other people I guess base their opinions off obvious demeanor and hold fervent grudges against him for his decisions(which eludes something very debatable, with his past and whatnot, that people fail to realize has its sidekicks.)
To truly like him I have to say you really need to come off at a deep understanding with him. And I don't mean just by acknowledging his cool looks/techniques. He's a hell of a character to be in a Shonen Manga for the twists in his tale, I'll tell you that. Cookie-cutter protagonists like Naruto never inspired me. Sasuke is on a more relatable concept with the flaws of modern society; however the difference is that he exposes his darkness, and does not deny it. He also perseveres and rejoices at the truth. A lot of his perspectives regard whatever is revealed to him. And a lot of the time people have no way of knowing what exactly he's thinking. He's great imo.

In other words Kiba sucks and should die. He is the only character that I can bring myself to hate in Naruto including Danzo.

1) It's just jealousy that sasuke > their fav and nothing else.
2) The fact that naruto is supposed to be the main character but sasuke is portrayed to be as relevant and important to the story as he is. Fans can't handle it
3) People can't handle that Kishimoto actually puts more effort into sasuke's character development and portrayal than he does other characters.
