Awesome!

I call bullshit on this guy. He didnt make any of these. Know how i know? Because I am subscribed to the person who made the second one, and i found the 3rd one on a GFX site as an exhibition.

FIRST : couldn't find it.
SECOND :
THIRD :
FOURTH:

I don't know if he is trying to pass this off as if he made them or if he just resized them and people totally got the wrong idea.

Regardless you should give credit where its due.

After seeing his other threads it does look like he possess no talent at all and just rips off other peoples art, sad.

Lol She's creating avatars. The avatar you're using right now is cropped/resized from a stock (pic with a background). Avatars are made out of stocks or renders (pics without a background), but GFXers normally touch it up (adding effects, adjusting lighting, applying textures, etc).

You won't be able to go through a page in this section without seeing many others doing exactly what she just did.

Anyways, we all learn sometime, and I'm guessing you're new to this whole thing.

Wow talk about infuriating. Do you guys even know the slightest thing about graphic design? Editing the lighting of these pictures? Are you guys totally blind to this guy. He isn't doing jack shit to any of these works AT ALL. Of course I wont see a lot of other people doing what hes doing because they know how not to rip off other people and be so uncreative that they cant create their own art from a render or stock.

IF this guy wants to prove hes anything, why not take a clear render by itself and create a whole art out of it. Can't do it? Then let people know you are lying to their face with "your" art and give respect and credit where its due.

The lighting is different. It's more noticable in the last, the green on her face is not near as bright as it is in the pic you showed. The lighting changes to the other avatars are more subtle, and I honestly doubt you're going to be willing to accept such changes are present.

However, you're seriously misunderstanding the concept. You have an avatar right now, a cropped/resized one (still different from the original pic), that's like saying you should credit whoever is the designer behind that somewhere in your sig/status/usertitle. Avatars are for personal enjoyment, those who GFX (or have a basic understanding of whatever photo editor they're using) simply touches the pic up to their own/others liking and then use it. No one other than you believes she created this art from scratch.

To give you a better idea, say if someone wanted their username in the avatar they're using, they or someone else will simply add the text. Lighting, texture, effects follows the same principle. Unless it states somewhere in the thread, it's understood that the poster didn't create the art from scratch.

To give a simple scenario of the concept behind avatars, I provide you with the following:

First person: Hey, can someone make me an avatar out of ? Maybe add your own effects/touch it up?

Second person: Sure, , let me know if you want anything else done to it.

Sometimes the first person may even request to keep it as it originally looks. And this, is the concept behind creating avatars. Sometimes the edits may be a more complicated.

Also, the OP (Orinigal Poster) never claimed to be some big bad designer, but may simply have an interest in making avatars. Many people in this section do the same.

It's not just that. O_O
I re-touch mine and see what improvements I can add to make it stand out, be better, it's not all about just resizing as you say.
I think he means essentially. For example, anyone can have an avatar by taking a pic and resizing/cropping it. Though, we can work to make those avatars look better or something more pleasing for us.

that's what you do. i add some filters to mine.

but essentially, its just cropping out/resizing portions you want from a stock.

GFX is a bit more than just readjusting brightness/contrast/photofilter x. i thought he had done more to them. i actually expected the golden fx at the 3. one was done by him. dont know, maybe it is because i was on a lot of other gfx boards before where ppl did something like that. this would change if the original stocks are presented :)

the avatars look awesome, but thats bcause of the stocks used^^

I know. I said those who GFX, not that that's all there is to GFX. For example, a computer technician can replace your hard drive, does that mean that's all he/she does? No. Or if I want to simplify the effort, computers technicians can help you with installing or updating software. The implied correction "Computer technicians does more than just installing software" isn't a correction, since I never stated nor believed the opposite.

I've seen good GFXers here, ones who starts with their own backgrounds, does their own sigs, add c4ds and all that. They do a good job. Now, I've also seen those same GFXers hardly make any changes when given a stock to make an avy out of, though it mainly depended on the stock they use.

I've also seen those GFXers say too much editing can ruin the beautiful stock, so they just made simple changes. Now I've also seen the opposite, I've seen those same good GFXers make some considerable changes to a stock. My point is, there's no law on how much work should be done, but has a lot to do with opinion.

I guess a good GfXer must also know when to keep things simple. Yep, the avys are good.

Ahh right, thanks for explaining YAMA. :)

You're welcome!
