By your logic, Madara living is a plot hole, because Sasuke could have cut his head off rather than hitting him with Amaterasu.

Orochimaru was talking about taking Itachi's body, not defeating him.
He's not strong enough to take Itachi's body, he tried and failed. If he DID get Itachi's body, then the invasion of Konoha would had went off without any problems.
Keep it in context, which I know is hard to do for you.
- I believe Jiraiya would win in a 1v1 against Itachi, but that's not relevant to the subject at hand. Itachi said that even w/ reinforcements and Kisame's help, there would be no way to beat Jiraiya.
That makes no sense at a time we know what both characters are capable of. Pein already got rid of J-man with moderate difficulty, so the reinforcement argument has no weight. Itachi had no intention of fighting whatsoever and he had to get rid of Kisame somehow.
- Why not? Its literally everything she's got. His field is that of ninjutsu and kinjutsu, everything else is secondary. And again, everything puts her above him in that regard.
- At least we agree on the purpose behind that quarrel :bouncy: You shouldn't make a big deal out of it. In a real fight Orochimaru would never be stomped like that. Its not even marketable.

There is no plot hole. This was cleared up when we learned Itachi was a double agent. Kisame even questioned why he of all people needed to run from Jiraiya. He was merely playing Kisame for a fool and can take down Jiraiya with the same difficultly he took down Orochimaru. Whether people want to believe it or not is up to them, but it's pretty clear at this point.

THAT was Itachi's out if he really wanted to lie. He could had said "You're right, Kisame. The situation is too dangerous for us."
But no, he didn't. Itachi insisted that he's Jiraiya's equal and continued after Naruto despite Kisame's hesitations.
So no, Itachi wasn't lying.
Kisame also questioned why Itachi needed to leave because he's supposedly in the same league as Jiraiya.
It's a good thing they left though, Itachi would had really put up less of a fight than those 3 Peins did.

you do realize that kishi has uchiha fetish. he wanks uchiha to no end, and treats them like gods in his work. he would never make uchiha look bad to a non-uchiha, except obito, but that's because obito is like naruto, so kishi would make him look bad with his Rin bs

Other members already soloed this thread. Orochimaru unfortunately has no counter to genjutsu it is his weakness. I wish we could see a true fight between these two characters. This is why I don't like genjutsu it makes fights boring and dumb. What is enjoyable in seeing one character just stomp another, without even moving a finger. Fights were characters are more evenly matched are glorious for example Naruto vs Sasuke at the Valley(best fight), Sasuke vs Deidara, Naruto vs Pain
You're not convinced? Noone has to convince You. It's in the manga, It's admitted by Orchimaru himself, And it's put in the databook.
After all of this , after Orochimaru's own admittance, you still believe he's stronger. That's just being a fanboy and ignoring facts
