Gates were said to be above 5 kages. Kishi knew he was going to need a new power without making it look like a powerup that came out of nowhere so that is the 8th gate.
I admit the power difference between 8 gate is colossal. If I'm not mistaken he was about to use it when him and Kakashi were fighting the bijuu until BM Naruto came. Memory is foggy but now he was owning a already OP ninja with not only Sage mode and Senju DNA, but with the Juubi inside him which has shown ridiculous feats when it was first introduced. Not disappointed to see Madara get beat up, he's my ***** but he deserves a ass whooping he's a big bully lmao.

I'm pretty sure Madara wasn't really "owned". I think Madara just wanted some play time. After all, I'm pretty confident that Madara at LEAST has the speed to at least react. I don't know about him being able to defend himself, but react yes. Actually scratch that, we know Madara has the speed to react because in previous chapters Madara was able to get his black shield half way up before Gai got to him. Also, Night Moth vs. Evening Elephant. Night Moth did WAY more damage than TWO Evening Elephants. Which means the effect of 8th Gate on the body of the user isn't a super spike from the 7th Gate, it just means that 8th Gate unlocks a move(s) that is more powerful than the ones that 7th Gate has to offer.
It's like this... Sort of bad analogy:
A one dollar bill and a five dollar bill aren't too off from each other when you think of value. But the five dollar bill offers more purchasing POWER than the one dollar bill. So 7th and 8th Gates are not far off from each other in terms of giving the user speed/strength/etc... but the power that the 8th Gate offers is way more than that of the 7th.
8th Gate Gai isn't too OP. Just the moves available are OP. So far, a user of the 8th Gate can only use Evening Elephant twice, and Night Moth once before death. So even then, though the moves are OP, are VERY costly.
Given the risk of using 8th Gate, and the fact that it's not too far off from 7th Gate, shows that Madara (who can spam multiple one shots, without risking his life) did not get "owned." Madara just merely played with Gai. After all, Madara is laughing... though that could be a maniacal "I almost died" laugh, which in either case, is still pretty bad to the bone.

I agree with everything you said though OP. This is what happens when you have a ridiculously powerful villain. Raining meteors, creating that big ass Susanoo. Just straight up on some Sephiroth shit lmao. You try to find ways to kill him and it just turns out lackluster. I enjoyed it when Obito was the Juubi host better and I can't stand him lmao. Madara was better shirtless *no homo* hahaha.
I don't quite agree. Giving u OP moves means that u r OP. 8th gate's moves are OP so that means the 8th gate really makes u OP. The strenght of ur moves should also define the strength of ur body...

I agree... I feel like Madara has been through hell in back already this last battle between him and Naruto and Sasuke wont be that interesting since we've already seen him near death...

Kishimoto had to make Madara get the " Yo entertain me boy" mood so he won't pull up some level scaling techniques. Bijuu dama/mokuton and so on. X_x

But gai DIDNT own madara though-if it weren't for naruto he would probably be nothing more than ash, whereas madara has healed from most of the damage....

What's disappointing is how he basically made everyone else look like ass.
SM hashirama, tobirama, Naruto and his badwagon of pets, sasuke, gaara all got owned by a 1 eyed guy.
SM minato, Kakashi, gaara again, got their ass handed to them by a juubi jin.
8th gate then comes in and pushes back a juubi jin and madara like doing near nothing major to save his ass. He literally looked like he just stood around taking blows most the time without trying to defend. Even while guy was standing around taking a breather all madara did was go "This guy is so strong, he's beating me around" then didn't actually try to formulate any strategy during that time. I mean like what the hell man? Did he just want to die and make everyone else, who got their ass fodderized, look that much more pitiful? rofl.

I'm not disappoint because I like how taijutsu was able to get a good crack at panel time. Don't worry man, most likely Madara will get his other eye (by a miracle of Kishi's doing lul) and it won't really matter.
You're overthinking it man. don't worry, just enjoy it don't overthink it.
