Manga disagrees.
I've already learned from AkatsukiChurch to take caution whilst clicking on those.

OT: I think at the end of the day it goes down to the fact that Sasuke and Itachi's philosophies were different, Sasuke never wanted this to happen. He would rather have just died with the rest of the Uchiha. In his eyes, the fact that his brother died for this meant more to him than the sake of the village. I remember even Naruto became quite angry after learning the village used his mother. To a certain degree, Sasuke's actions were expected of him regardless.

Yeah, Danzo really shit on Sasuke's character. Some people hate him, but there was truth in his words. MS Sasuke is just an abomination.

Wow it's entirely the other way around. Itachi was the selfish one trying to force his love of Konoha against Sasuke. Sasuke isn't Itachi. He didn't care about Konoha or Itachi wishes. It's how Sasuke explained it one of these chapters. It went something like "Go back to Konoha and protect it?" Those are only pretty words etc etc. Sasuke fought his whole life for vengence. It's not something as easy to decide I'll protect the village who destroyed my entire family.

Is it?
Bold is why he's an awful brother. For spouting on and on about how great Itachi is, Sasuke never cared about Itachi's wishes or Itachi's beloved home? That seems shitty.

Let me get this straight; You think Sasuke was an awful brother because he didn't continue to protect the village like his brother wanted? In other words, you're expecting a person who's whole family got slaughtered by that same village via the hands of his brother to protect that same village? Despite what Itachi wanted, instead of trying to solve things in a more peaceful way, this village made his brother choose to either die along with his whole clan or kill his whole clan to save the rest of the people in the village and his little brother. There was no scenario in their plan where Sasuke's family can stay alive as well.

Itachi's wishes don't change the fact that this same village slaughtered his whole family and kept him in dark about Itachi's situation the whole time even though admittedly, that's what Itachi wanted. Basically you were expecting of Sasuke to put a blind eye on the crimes this village did to his family and protect them instead of taking revenge on the people who forced Itachi into such a decision and killed his whole clan.

Sasuke is not Itachi. Just because Sasuke loved Itachi doesn't mean that Sasuke has to go along with Itachi's wishes. They're not the same person nor do they have the same mind set.

Is it?

Yeah, you're just viewing this in a bad way. Sasuke loved Itachi as a brother and respected him for the burden he had to carry. Just because Sasuke loves a family member doesn't mean that Sasuke has to share the same wishes as that family member. Once again, despite Itachi's wishes, it's beyond stupid to say that Sasuke should have kept on protecting the village that killed his whole family and forced such a burden onto Itachi.

I hated him too, but at the same time I liked the fact that he was evil.

Did Itachi ever stop to think what Sasuke wanted when he was alive. Only a double standard but there are to many Itachi fappers on the base.

He wasn't trying to force his love for Konoha on Sasuke. He just wanted Sasuke to be safe. He wanted Sasuke to be looked at as a hero and wasn't expecting his plan to fail. He wanted to die by Sasuke's hand in order to achieve that, imo that's actually quite selfless, not selfish. Throughout the series, Sasuke has seeked vengeance and achieved nothing. He hasn't gained anything positive from it and yet still wants it. He gives into his emotions too easily while not even thinking of the consequences, that is selfish. He was basically spitting on what his brother died for back when he had MS and thought he was avenging him. Sasuke was just being stupid. Now, I will admit he's gotten better.

So, because cared for his brother means he should care for Konoha despite not having any love for Konoha? It's seems to me like "forcing" someone to do what they don't want.

You didn't mention why Konoha did what they did. "Crimes". The Uchiha were going to destroy Konoha in their vain attempt to gain power.
But I'd rather not get into who was right in the Uchiha Massacre right now.
Fact is, Itachi loved Konoha in any case. And Sasuke kept going on about how "perfect" Itachi is, yet never gave a damn about what Itachi thought. That is what irks me.

Not necessarily. He doesn't need to protect Konoha.
But because he loved his brother, he should have stayed off of Konoha.

Itachi is a failure. He should have told Sasuke the truth from the beginning and not try to do everything on his own. He manipulated Sasuke there is nothing selfless about that at all.

I'm quite sure that there are more Sasuke fapboys on this base as of now. It's not a double standard, it's just true. What was Itachi supposed to do with Sasuke when he was alive? Tell him the truth so he can do what...go and destroy Konoha. If Sasuke wanted to destroy Konoha, is that okay? It's not all about Sasuke and what he wants, there are other people in the Naruverse too. It was a lose-lose situation for Itachi. Itachi was attempting to think both of his little brother and other innocent people as well. Sasuke's life was pretty much going to suck either way the moment the Uchiha clan decided they wanted a coup, Itachi just wanted to minimize the damage & wanted Sasuke to live the best life possibly in the end, given the situation.

I don't really know why you're disputing this point much anyway. In the databook Kishi wrote that a part of Itachi's personality was being self-sacrificing whereas in his latest interview he stated that Sasuke mainly cares about himself, is selfish, and only cares about his goals.

Huh, the Uchihas were going destroy Konoha? What nonsense....Show me where it was stated the Uchiha were going to destroy Konoha?

The Uchiha only reason for trying to take over Konoha was because they were blamed on something they haven't done.

And yet again, he's not going to put random people and families over his own. The Uchiha wanted the same position as the Senju in Konoha and they could have ended it all in a more peaceful way than sending Sasuke's own brother (a member of the Uchiha clan) to slaughter the whole clan.

Fact is, Itachi loved Konoha in any case. And Sasuke kept going on about how "perfect" Itachi is, yet never gave a damn about what Itachi thought. That is what irks me.

Itachi loved it, but Sasuke didn't because it killed his family and drove him to insanity at that point. They COULD have used a different assassin instead of Itachi, but no, they used Sasuke's own brother. Sasuke considered Itachi ''perfect'' because of the burden he had to carry by himself. Sasuke loved Itachi, but he definitely is not going to share the same mind set and wishes as Itachi.

Sasuke was under the assumption that all of Itachi's doings were for him and that Itachi was acting for Sasuke's best interest, not that he was working in the interest of the village.

During the Kabuto fight Sasuke constantly questioned the reasons behind Itachi's display of loyalty and it wasn't until afterwards that he decided to go out and understand Itachi.
When Sasuke finally learned of Itachi's values and the true worth of the village he then came to the conclusion that the village was worth protecting.

When considering characters its important to view things from their point of view.

Yes, Itachi's plan for Sasuke did fail. Yes, he did manipulate Sasuke, but you also have to look at the reasoning behind it. It's not all just black and white. What would telling Sasuke the truth from the beginning have done? Make him just hate Konoha earlier and wish to destroy it. That would have been stupid. Or do you mean tell an 8 yr old Sasuke about the coup? Because that would have been stupid as well, an 8 year old wouldn't be able to change an entire clan's mind that has had tension with Konoha since the days of Tobirama's and Madara's fallout.

I don't view Itachi as a total failure. I just know that he isn't perfect. They're human, they tend to fail you know. He did keep Konoha safe from war while he was alive and Sasuke would have been dead long ago were it not for him.

ot: Sasuke isn't a terrible brother. He just didn't know all the details which in turn caused him to act the way he did.

They didn't want to of course, but it was inevitable.
