Sasuke was an Awful Brother

Sasuke was under the assumption that all of Itachi's doings were for him and that Itachi was acting for Sasuke's best interest, not that he was working in the interest of the village.

During the Kabuto fight Sasuke constantly questioned the reasons behind Itachi's display of loyalty and it wasn't until afterwards that he decided to go out and understand Itachi.
When Sasuke finally learned of Itachi's values and the true worth of the village he then came to the conclusion that the village was worth protecting.

I agree this is something alot of people don't understand as well. Sasuke just didn't see why he should protect the village that shitted all over his entire clan. Why would he?

Agreed. Sasuke is just an overly emo (seriously, grow out of that crap) naive hate-filled tool of a boy. Itachi's real burden was being the brother of such a spoon-fed fodder.

Not necessarily. He doesn't need to protect Konoha.
But because he loved his brother, he should have stayed off of Konoha.

You do know they were more people Sasuke care for other than his brother(his mother, his father and the whole Uchiha Clan)?

You think he would just leave Konoha alone because of Itachi's love? Konoha had to pay for they did to his people according Sasuke...

Yes, Itachi's plan for Sasuke did fail. Yes, he did manipulate Sasuke, but you also have to look at the reasoning behind it. It's not all just black and white. What would telling Sasuke the truth from the beginning have done? Make him just hate Konoha earlier and wish to destroy it. That would have been stupid. Or do you mean tell an 8 yr old Sasuke about the coup? Because that would have been stupid as well, an 8 year old wouldn't be able to change an entire clan's mind that has had tension with Konoha since the days of Tobirama's and Madara's fallout.

I don't view Itachi as a total failure. I just know that he isn't perfect. They're human, they tend to fail you know. He did keep Konoha safe from war while he was alive and Sasuke would have been dead long ago were it not for him.

I know his reasoning and I agree. Itachi was young and that's why he admitted his mistakes when he talked to Sasuke. Thats what I appreciate most about Itachi he never claimed to be perfect or thought his way was completely righteous. However things couldve have been different like Itachi said himself if he just trusted another person enough to bare his burdens.

Eh, I just figured that if you love someone as much as Sasuke did Itachi then you should care about their wants, is all.

That's what I appreciate about his character too. But @the bold, who was there for Itachi to trust at that time? Shisui was the only other person who shared his ideals and he died. Itachi was pretty much left on his own at that moment.

Your reasonings are ridiculous, short-sighted, and childish, as usual. Sasuke has no reason to follow Itachi's utterly ludicrous and thin philosophies through. Yet again, I see no points from your side, other than your own typical likings on grounds of supporting Nationalism.

While Itachi always had Konoha as his priority, he made the terrible mistake of trying to make Sasuke the better brother when he spared him and wanted him to seek vengeance.

No one, not even Itachi, could have molded Sasuke "correctly."

Nah he had Sasuke even if he was to young. Itachi should've told him the truth the 1st time around things would've turned out better. Itachi made Sasuke into a monster. Seeking vengence and power through hatred.

Sasuke's descent to madness is a stuff of Greek Tragedies. Lol The shit I keep reading to put his characterization down is always hilarious. Most of you probably have never picked up a decent classic and ever read through it. The tastes here - Itachi, a paper-thin Jingoistic loon is revered, when he has no personality spectrum whatsoever.

NB - always classy and classic with its literary tastes or utter lack thereof.

TBH, a lot of what Sasuke has become is what Itachi made him into. Itachi traumatized him and etched into Sasuke that hatred and power were the proper course. Then, when Sasuke began to stray from this laid out course Itachi forceable put him right back on the path of an avenger.

Ppl will say that Sasuke had a choice but was 8 and then 12 how much logic do u expect from a traumatized 12 yo.

Itachi as did what he thought was best and I admit to doing something similar myself, but u can't blame Sasuke for living his life the way Itachi taught him.

Yes yes, poor Sasuke. I don't know hatred, so I can comfortably look on Sasuke from the seat of a non-psychotic reader. From here, I can tell how selfish Sasuke truly is. If I were steeped in complete madness like he was, I may have a different view. But I never have been, so I don't.

So who is the better brother the one who manipulates or the brother who steps over. Imo Sasuke because he turned his cheek even after all Itachi did.

I disagree. 8 year old Sasuke would have been no use to the situation at that time. Sasuke as a young adult cannot reconcile with Naruto, how would he convince an entire clan against a coup, when he himself at that age would not even understand the gravity of the situation? I fail to see how telling Sasuke would have benefitted anyone.

I dont have time to make up what if's but Itachi said it himself he should've told him the truth. Is there much more for me to say?

I like both characters (for what they're worth anyway) and I'm not favoring one over the other when I say this, but imo Itachi was the better brother. Why? Because at least he admitted that what he did was not entirely right and he apologized for it in the end. What did Sasuke do? Tell Itachi to his face that he didn't care about what he wanted. I can understand where Sasuke is coming from, but he wasn't entirely justified in everything that he did either.

I will say that I enjoy Sasuke more now that he's gotten his act together, at least.
