To the op, sorry fprgot to reply to your "it makes no sense for just awekaned haki to save him" similar txt.
Well u do know spur of the moment things can b very amplified coz why the heck wld the haki aweken if it cldnt save him, if his will to live in that moment wld have been that great then yah an invisible shield haki pisitioned btwn him and the bomb as it explodes(just for clarification bomb here is the outward moving energy released from the physical bomb), he wld b shielded from the shock and heat but wld b violently pushed away by the surge of energy released.(its just a for fun theory so just roll with it)
A guy a several post before kinda brought out one interesting note, all most each and every one strawhat has lost someone in their lives and those pple's deaths are so relavent to that charecter and they actually push the charecter furthe, while his death might have been for plot's purposes Dr Hiluluk's death was quite touching for me and while it hit heavey to chopper dr still died for his own belifies retarted as they may seem he died his own charecter and not so evident its for chopper just as Ace's death is not just to push Luffy it has its own pull and pushing our prontagonist is a happy by product of it.
In all earnesty OPis built upon one heck of a death, Roger's death is like one piece on its own, and its huge that even if u dont kill anyone else it suffices. One piece's plot is so vast that for one person to die and make a dent in iy they jave to b really standout Granny Nyon(old hag on Hancok island) said it entering that war luffy was like an ant braving agnaist a storm, the death of a microscopic ant like pell wld not have helped anyone, it wld have just added to the number who died on panel, but letting Pell survive and setting up a Reverie Oda cld b cooking something for the guy and the more pple nitpick over him surving the more anxious i get to see him, its like bellamy Im happy now he survived in Jaya coz that wld have been waste of a good charecter now that I look at it(wld it have been cool if his only purpose was to insult and slap luffy then luffy later slaps him, its better now he survived and there is even now talk of him joining the crew or becominh an ally.
I'm a chick, but thanks.
Should.. probably change my profil picture, it's my friend who is cosplaying Zoro on the pick, I am the one cosplaying Usopp in the background X)
I just thought it was such a great picture of us playing out the characters... any-ways.
Yeah, that is a funny thing to note, the entirety of One Piece is indeed centred around the death of one single character.
We only got to meet him ever in small shadow clips, the most we ever got to see him in the anime was in the Filler episode that was almost a teaser to "Strong world." depicting the Goldens Lions story. And yet every-thing is about Rogers Legacy.
People talk about him all the time, searches for the things he left behind, we meet people affected of his life and his legacy, you can tell that Roger changed the world, and by leaving a legacy like that.. he is still changing the world.
That is sure how you have a dead character matter without having to bring him back to life... and I wouldn't put it past One Piece for some-one to suddenly have a fruit that bring back ghosts or what-ever.. that's kind of One Piece, you can do what-ever the heck you want with the devil fruits, you can make them do
any-thing
The only really restricting thing about the devil fruits are that you can only use each power ones, and as a fanfic writer, having written some one piece, I gotta say that's tough coming up with new powers at this point.
Though hm.. if Thriller Bark is any indication of this mangas view of things, it is a; actually bringing dead people back is a no no in this univers.
HogBack and Moria tried, but all they ended with were poor imitations of the dead, they were unable to bring any souls back from the grave, therefore they had to steal still living peoples souls (shadows.) to even make it work... Didn't.. Technically, didn't they create new life there so.. All the Zombies died.
Dude! Zombie Lola, Namis good buddie, is dead! Dead, dead and never coming back, dead! Yeah, sure, her soul is still alive and given back to the rightful owner, but her memories, specific personality and dreams are all gone. She's dead!
How many poor innocent marines do you guys think died doing Enies Lobby when the Buster Call were performered and no-body was allowed out, they just destroyed all of Enies Lobby.. those marines died! ... poor unfortunate sods..
And yeah, I really do think Hiluluk are one of the greatest deaths in the entire manga.
Which really goes to show you can get emotionally attached, even though he is merely a flashback character, exsisting only to give Chopper motivation and depth.
Hiluluk still was a character, he had his own rich character and depth, dream, motivation, view on the world, back-story, the lot. he was a fully fleshed character whom died.. dawww.
Another topic.. I am so confused what this thread is even about now.
It's just like.. all the Naruto fans yells. "You One Piece fans are stupid, and but hurt when we disagree with you." and the One Piece fans yells back. "You Naruto fans are stupid, and but hurt when we disagree with you!"
And that is.. all the arguments present. And erh.. erhm.. this.. this is the One Piece Section of a Naruto forum.. shouldn't.. shouldn't we be supporting both mangas.
"You are just angry that One Piece isn't as popular."
What.. that's kinder garden banter, also pretty silly, yeah Naruto is more popular... In the western world! Go to Japan, in Japan One Piece is the one single biggest thing in Manga and Anime right now, while Naruto and Bleach are just minor side-notes in comparison, it's not going any-where any-time soon... But what does it even matter, both manga and Animes are popular enough, they have been popular to each go on for
over a decade
Trying to dismiss influence of either is pretty pointless around now.
They have both been around for a long time, they have both left a big influence at this point, a really big influence in each their way. You cannot go to a con any-where, without having just some-one cosplay Naruto and some-one Cosplay One Piece, it is that influential..
One Piece is not for every-one, I totally get that! The manga is a weird acid trip, and there is NO WAY I can explain the ungoings of the plot to strangers without them looking at me like I have gone insane.
So yeah.. I get that. I personally enjoy it, but I absolutely see why it's not all people whom would.
And this discussion.. feels pointless to me, especially when people are just spitting out kinder garden insults at each other instead of discussing the content of the mangas.
