Shikaku's the best Dad in my opinion.

Best mother is Kushina, I believe.

Not meaning to offend, but how is Mikoto considered a good mother when she agreed w/ Fugaku on a coup that eventually led to the clan's destruction, allowed Sasuke to be totally neglected by Fugaku, and along w/ her husband used Itachi as a tool to gain intel on Konoha? The only thing honorable about Fugaku and Mikoto was the way they went out and their final words. Other than that, they were way too absorbed in the clan and totally neglected their kids. They failed as parents.

Minato and Kushina. They died for Naruto, came to him on the chakra plane to support him and talk to him and help him, have a crazy love for him despite not being there for his whole life, and I dunno. I just like em more than the other parents introduced.

Though Dai, Shikaku, Inoichi, and Chōza are pretty cool dads.

Yeah i like them both as fathers because they have been harsh at times but entrusted everything to their children.

They both gave their lives to save their kids. That's literally the ultimate thing a parent can do. I also added Gamabunta because of how protective he is over Gamatatsu (but mostly because he's an awesome giant toad and that's hilarious) But something about Shikaku's relationship with Shikamaru seems more mature, he is entirely on Shikamaru's level and because they're both intellectuals they can have a relationship where they don't need to say everything.

When Asuma died- he was there. When Shikamaru cried because he got his friends hurt in the Sasuke Retrieval arc- he was there. Seeing a bond like this is seriously rare in Naruto and i'm just a sucker for it because it's just so realistic. Honestly out of every bond in the show I can't think of one which is more realistic and applicable than theirs. I still remember the first time he was introduced and Shika asked him why he married a woman like his mom and he literally just replied as dryly as possible.

(I haven't got this fanboyish about Naruto for a while aha, consider me a Nara fanboy now)

Fugaku/Mikoto wanted a coup that the clan would not possibly succeed with and that caused all the Uchiha to die as a result. Prior to that idea, Sasuke was neglected and was really jealous of Itachi & Itachi himself had way too much pressure on him. They sucked as parents. Then they didn't resist against their eldest son, but they didn't know that it was to better Sasuke's life or that the Uchiha were going to die anyway, they probably didn't resist because they knew that the majority of the clan had been eliminated and their plans would no longer be possible. The only thing good about them were their final words. Otherwise I think they make the list of worst Naruto parents.

Kushina and Minato took a claw through the chest to protect Naruto and even though Minato fails at being a father at times, the intent is still there. So I think that Minato and Kushina take this.

Gaara's mother also protects him even from death w/ the sand and her love for him. Shikaku had the most mentally stable kid on the show, so he obviously did a good job raising Shikamaru. Dai is the optimistic parent who encourages their child that every kid dreams of, and Gai did grow up to be a good person w/ good morals.

And Sakura's parents are pretty chill too. A war is going on and they don't have to worry about dying because they are normal civilians and their daughter is the only ninja in their clan. They are probably out shopping right about now.
