Best Mom: Mito she was there for Kushina to comfort her and she was a very powerful Kunoichi.
Best Dad: Shikaku, he's the only dad I can imagine having a chance in the real world, also he was always there with a good advice and an open ear for Shikamaru.

As much as I like Kushina and Minato ... I can't vote for them, as I consider the people who raise their child as parents (I think they would have been great ... but they didn't get the chance). I considered Choji's parents as he is a kind/gentle/protective person even while being picked on for most of his life .... but his parents let him get (in his words) "A little chubby".
Best Father: ... very tough ... was tossing up between White Fang and Shikaku.
Overall I think Shikamaru Naru has been instilled with great values, duty etc and they continued to give him good advice in their own way that suits the situation .... so best parents are: Shikaku & Yoshino Naru.

6 or 7 people need to reevaluate their criteria on what being a good parent it. Mikoto and Fugaku are certainly not it. Fugaku was going to lead the clan to their demise and their decisions actually led to the clan's demise. Mikoto seemed nice and Fugaku was still proud of them, but they still neglected Sasuke and demanded too much from Itachi and didn't care what their kids thought at the end of the day. They valued the clan above them and were just misguided. I admire their final words to Itachi and think that deep down they had good hearts. But at the end of the day, they didn't know it was for Sasuke's safety and that the clan was dying either way, they did it because there was no use to resisting at that point. It would just make it harder on their son and their plans for holding the coup instead of peaceful negotiations were doomed from the start. That was the one thing that they did right and I respect them for the way they died. But as parents, I think they're the worst in the manga.

I'm going to say Asuma, he was like a dad to his whole team and was a good enough dad that while dying was thinking of his kid and asking Shikamaru to be there for him.

No way did you just consider Sakumo. No parent who kills themself out of shame leaving their son to find the body and oprhaned has the right to call him a good parent. Kakashi had to put up with the shame and title of 'friend-killer' after the Rin incident and did he kill himself?

Agreed .. that's why I didn't choose him. Kakashi turned out so well (character/temperament/values - has lost everyone but still goes on and tries to instil values to next generation - he was proud of his fathers choice of friends over mission) and that's why I considered Sakumo .... but how he ended his life was reason why I didn't choose him.
