So you're saying that itachi could have broken chibaku tensei by himself?Edo-Itachi sealed Nagato on his own accord.
#Inb4 Chibaku-Tensei argument: Itachi had alreadyYou must be registered for see linksa method to stop Chibaku-Tensei however had to relay the strategy [destroy the core] to Naruto and Bee. On his own he could have mauled through the small layers of debris with the Kanzentai Susano'o and destroy the core using Susanoo's physical prowess----or----Pierce through the core with Totsuka.
Nagato is stronger than Itachi but within the Edo-Tensei the scenario is highly questionable as brute force isn't the sole determinant of any battle.
Itachi doesn't have the raw power to cut through chibaku tensei and he does not have anything in his arsenal that could take it down. He might have had the strategy to take CT down but he couldn't have taken down CT by himself, not by a long shot. That's why he needed the help of naruto and bee. Thus, he relayed the strategy to them as it was only possible to take down CT with the combined efforts of all three of them with their attacks.
Any form of battle between itachi and nagato (whether if both are alive or edo), nagato will always be victorious. Even though Edo nagato and edo itachi are closer in strength compared to "Alive itachi and alive nagato", it still wouldn't make a huge difference. Edo itachi didn't really do anything against nagato other than attack the guy from behind to ruin his mobility. Also, other than the fact that he figured out a way to break CT, he couldn't have done it on his own without the help of Naruto and Bee as stated before. At the end of the day, Naruto and bee needed itachi's help and itachi needed naruto and bee's help. So basically, Vice versa, it's the same thing.
