Yeah, he has only hype, and that's the point. You're saying that "prime itachi" would be itachi w/o disease and more stamina, aren't you? So hypes still hypes, they barely matter.
Now, if you're saying that prime itachi would be the itachi above + hypes becoming feats/truth, then yeah, he'd be # 1.
But that's just very stupid, to consider hypes as truth.
If that's the definition of prime, then prime hiruzen(the hype king)> all.

Itachi was fighting nagato with the help of naruto and killer bee. If nagato and itachi were fighting head on, he would have lost badly.
He didn't get owned by totsuka. He was an edo under the control of nagato so he didn't have his senses + he was only focusing on capturing itachi and naruto because of the eight tails and nine tails. Totsuka isn't fast at all, he could have dodged it easily if he had control over his mind
Anyone who thinks itachi>nagato because of that battle is nothing but a pure fanboy and noob. It's garbage logic.

Itachi wouldn't have defeated nagato alone. He only was able to seal nagato because of naruto and bee's help. Whose needed whose help isn't what I was really trying to get at.

The evidence is the manga which makes this fact very clear. Anyone who has read the manga and understood it properly can clearly say that Nagato>Itachi. So please read it again and get back to me on it because if you seriously have to debate and question between nagato and itachi and who is stronger than I have nothing to say to you. It's as simple as that.
Nagato has a much better arsenal and better feats than itachi. Alive itachi or edo itachi, he can't defeat any form of nagato. He's not that powerful. Itachi is barely top 10.

a method to stop Chibaku-Tensei however had to relay the strategy [destroy the core] to Naruto and Bee. On his own he could have mauled through the small layers of debris with the Kanzentai Susano'o and destroy the core using Susanoo's physical prowess----or----Pierce through the core with Totsuka. Nagato is stronger than Itachi but within the Edo-Tensei the scenario is highly questionable as brute force isn't the sole determinant of any battle.

He only sealed nagato because nagato wasn't in his senses as he was being controlled by kabuto in order to capture naruto and bee. It's not like totsuka sword speedblitz him as totsuka doesn't have any speed feats to start with.

Itachi's greatest asset was his potential, the truth is that of his goals were directed to the sole purpose of being stronger he would have provably been on everybody's top 5, however , we have only seen itachi in the manga fight with the intent to ultimately loose ( Jiriaya, Kakashi, Sasuke) the only fight that he wanted to win was Kabuto where his feats are debatable because alive itachi doesnot =edo itachi. Itachi is a man of hax, if you ate fighting him without intel I don't care what your DC is it will be a tough battle- ( similar to another uchiha we know ( obito, Kamui gg)

Of course, naruto and bee needed his help. Who said they didn't help his help? But at the end of the day, it was a team effort and that's it. None of them individually could have defeated nagato. Not naruto, not bee and not even itachi. Itachi didn't prove that he was better than nagato in this battle, it was clearly a team effort. It's from the manga but you can't comprehend what's happening. When I meant reading, there's much more to that then just enjoying the black and white pictures and understanding the words. It means comprehending the story and understanding the scenario which you failed to do.
