Well, it will make the training harder and more complicated, but if you guys feel like you can pull it off, then I won't stop you. What I actually had in mind was posting the technique and having one of you describe how you use it and then the other one using any technique to defend. You don't really need other techniques to use the one I'll be teaching you.

Oh I get what you intended now, sounds good. I like your idea better haha. So I vote we stick with this one, ofc, Ausar can have his opinion on the matter.
Ok then. The first technique from the 3rd method is hiding like a mole. The first one to post explain how to use it and make an offensive scenario while the second one will have to come up with an effective way how to defend against it.
(Doton: Moguragakure no Jutsu) – Earth Release: Hiding like a mole technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Long
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user changes earth into fine sand by channeling chakra into it, allowing the user to dig through it like a mole. While underground one can sense what is happening on the surface and use the information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. Once can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy cant reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth.
As you can see, you turn the earth beneath you into fine sand through which you can dig. As it says it's a supplementary technique, so it's not to be used on its own. It's often chained with other techniques that can trap the opponent, or you can even use it to avoid direct attacks. It allows you to turn the ground to sand, thus enabling you to move underground nearly undetected. Since you're actively changing the shape of the ground, you can stop this technique halfway and preform another jutsu without dying. But if you want to resume the technique, you'll have to spend it once again.
Ok, sensei, we've decided to alternate for every jutsu we learn. I'll start off with the offensive tactics for this justu.
Garnering from the description, sensei, it seems like this jutsu is a combination of Method 1 (own chakra) and Method 2 (environmental manipulation). By using Method 1, the user gathers Doton chakra and channels it through the ground by the body part in contact with the earth, whether it be their hands, feet, or whatever. Then, the user would apply Method 2/3 and dissolve the earth by using their channeled chakra, just like how we did with the rock earlier! It seems as long as the user is in contact with the ground, the earth around them will turn into sand that can be burrowed through. So, is it right to say, if the user is not in contact with the ground (say, mid-air), would it not be possible to use this jutsu?
Now, for my offensive scenario. I have a question: while the user is burrowing, can they make hand seals or prep techniques while they burrow, or must they erupt above the ground to use other jutsu?
For now, I will assume we can cast other ninjutsu while burrowing.
While underground, I'd sense where my opponent (in this example, L), and perform the Rat Hand Seal, performing this jutsu:
(Doton: Ganban Kyu) - Earth Release: Bedrock Coffin
Rank: C
Type: Offense
Range: Mid/Long
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: After performing the Rat hand seal, the user to control multiple sections of rock and move them around their opponent. The user then forms two gigantic sections that crush the opponent.
Ideally, this would trap L in between the gigantic rock sections, rendering him immobile. If that happens, I'd follow up with this jutsu, after emerging from the ground:
(Doton: Ganchūsō) - Earth Release: Stone Spikes
Rank: C
Type: Attack
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: This technique lets the user create a few rock pillars that will protrude from the ground to skew the target. The rock pillars will even pass through obstacles to reach their target
Since the rock pillars "pass through obstacles to reach their target", I'd essentially be piercing L, skewering him, since he's already trapped in the rock sections. That would be quite a bloody way to go, admittedly. Claustrophobic, too.
Does that suffice, sensei?
*I look over at L, who seems to be listening intently as well, and trying to formulate a proper response*
As you make no attempt to conceal the fact that you have gone underground. i.e. I see you go under, L would use one of the following techniques to compromise you in this scenario.
The fact that I have no idea what range you started at when you used your technique as it wasn't specified, makes it a lot more difficult to come up with an appropriate counter.
Therefore, I have written a list of all sorts of possible counters for the mole technique (helps my thought process) and then have decided upon the best counters for the technique at the end. *so if you cannot be bothered reading through all the counters, the end has my final chosen counters. Like I said, I wrote all sorts of counters down to help my thought process and choose the best one for this situation.*

Electrocuting Yu
(Raiton: Ikazuchi no Utage) - Lightning Release: Lightning Burial ~ Banquet of Lightning
Rank: B
Type: Offense
Range: Mid/Long
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: The user brings their hands together and an electrical energy will begin to crackle around them. They will then slam their hands to the ground to send an electric current racing through the earth. When the current approaches its target, it can split into multiple tendrils to attack separate targets individually.
"The above technique reaches up to long range, the mole technique is long range, so Yu Narukami would definitely be in the firing line of this technique. Because Raiton travels quite quickly, it is also a beneficial technique to use as it could potentially reach Yu Narukami before he stopped the mole technique and began sending jutsu from beneath my way. i.e. Bedrock coffin. Being a B Rank technique, it is more ideal to use than those Lightning techniques of a higher rank to deal with this particular C Rank technique. To use a S Rank Lightning technique to compromise Yu in this situation would probably be a waste of chakra, when there are easier alternatives available."
"The next Lightning techniques would be effective counters had I known specifically that Yu was either mid/short range from me."
Rank: A
Type: Attack
Range: Short – Mid
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: 60
Description: After performing a small sequence of hand seals the user will place their hand on the ground converting their chakra in to lightning. The user then sends an enormous bolt of electricity that cuts through the ground in the direction of the enemy. The shape of the bolt is a triangular with the base in the direction of the user and the tip headed towards the target. It causes devastating destruction on its way and generates enough heat and power to destroy whatever it comes into contact with.
(Raiton: Chidori Nagashi) - Lightning Release: One Thousand Birds Current
Rank: A
Type: Offense/Defence
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: 60
Description: This jutsu allows the user to generate non-focused electrically charged chakra from their body. Because the electricity isn't focused, it doesn't kill on contact, instead it only paralyzes. The lightning can be channelled through metal objects, as well as spread out into the air or ground.
Rank: C
Type: Offensive
Range: Short – Mid (Short range for the discharge)
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: 30
Description: The user will manipulate their lightning chakra in their dominant hand generating electrical bolts of lightning around their forearm and they then jump into the air. The user will then land slamming their palm onto the ground causing the electrical energy to become discharged sending out bolts of lightning into the ground and around them up to 5 meters.
"The above techniques are particularly ideal to counter the mole technique, however the range is the issue. You cannot predict at what range the opponent would stop or be travelling to (if he begun at long range). Yu could be hiding at long range and launch his techniques from below , so it is best just in case the opponent does not intend on travelling short/mid range of you, to use Lightning Burial to counter this technique if you were to with Lightning, as it covers up to long range."

Drowning Yu
(Suiton: Mizu Kamikiri) - Water Release: Rising Water Cutter
Rank: C
Type: Attack
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: After waving the Tiger hand seal the user slams his foot to the ground, causing water to rise up and travel towards his target as a slicing jet.
(Suiton: Mizu Kamikiri) - Water Release: Rising Water Slicer
Rank: B
Type: Attack
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: After performing the Tiger hand seal the user creates a fast jet of water running through the ground that is powerful enough to slice through solid rock.
"The above techniques I imagine would flood Yu out of the earth or drown him. You could probably follow this technique up with a Lightning technique to make sure Yu was compromised by electrocuting him severely. The first technique would probably be most preferable because it was a lower rank, however what both techniques lack is range, which could be an issue as it is hard to predict exactly within what range your opponent is under ground". Crushing Yu
(Doton: Yomi Numa) - Earth Style: Swamp of the Underworld
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short/Long
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user will first perform Boar → Tiger and then by changing the surface of an object beneath an enemy into mud and creating a non flammable swamp, the user can sink his enemy into the mud. The adhesive, chakra-infused mud ensnares the enemy's body, making it almost impossible to recover one's strength and escape from the swamp. The size and depth of the created swamp depends on the user's skill and the amount of chakra used, but if the user is an expert in this technique, it will always be possible to make a fair-sized swamp which is extremely effective against a great number of enemies or when having to face gigantic creatures.
"The above technique is an A Rank technique and there are lower rank Doton techniques that could compromise Yu effectively without having to waste as much chakra, however it is ideal as it reaches up to long range. Using this technique would definitely compromise Yu. Creating a large enough mud swamp around themselves (without sinking themselves) would leave an opponent beneath/stuck in this mud swamp, making it almost impossible for them to escape."
Rank: A
Type: Offensive
Range: Short – Mid
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: 60
Description: The user will knead their earth chakra into their stomach and then release from their mouth earthly material that then forms into a large slab of rock, that can travel with incredible force. On impact with the ground the slab forces the earth to splinter and jab anyone caught in the vicinity.
"The fact that the earth splinters means that Yu could be crushed beneath. Not the most favourable technique to counter the mole technique however as there are alternative earth techniques to use that don't require as much chakra. The technique is also limited by its range."
(Doton: Yochi no Douyou) - Earth Release: World Shaking
Rank: C
Type: Offensive
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: 30
Description: The user will concentrate and release their chakra into the ground to create a small tremer that can result in harming the enemy target.
"A Nice rank, not using too much chakra, this technique generates a tremor that could result in the earth crushing Yu beneath. The only issue with this counter would be the range. "
Rank: C
Type: Offense
Range: Short/Long
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: After performing the required hand seals Boar → Ox → placing hand on the ground, the user causes the ground surrounding the enemy to spiral inwards on itself, burying them alive or crushing them. This technique is capable of causing quite a bit of damage to the area. This technique is much more damaging if used in rocky mountainous areas, or inside a cave.
"This technique could potentially cause the earth to cave in on top of Yu, crushing him. It reaches long range and is a good rank that doesn't require too much chakra use too, making it an ideal counter. This is probably the best Doton technique to use if you wanted to counter the mole technique using an Earth Release technique."
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: After performing snake hand seal the user slams their hand on the ground. The result is that the ground becomes heavily turned up with chunks of rubble popping out of the ground. This technique is used as a means to distract opponents to either create an escape or follow through with a surprise attack.
( Doton: Gizagiza no Iwajin ) - Earth Release: Jagged Rock Formation
Rank: C
Type: Offensive, Supplementary
Range: Short – Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: 30
Description: The user will manipulate their chakra and stomps the ground. By doing so, he causes small fractures to rip through the ground, which will then force fragments of earth and rock to rise up from the ground like protruding rock formations to then deal blunt force damage to the opponent and raising them up into the air.
"Both the above techniques could be good counters. They both can cause Yu to be crushed underground. Both nice ranks, however, they are limited by their range."
"Taking in all these counters into account, the counter that I believe to most efficient to counter the mole technique, given the fact that the range in which Yu is not specified, would be to use (Doton: Retsudo Tenshō) - Earth Release: Tearing Earth Turning Palm or (Raiton: Ikazuchi no Utage) - Lightning Release: Lightning Burial ~ Banquet of Lightning. Yes, Tearing Palm is a lower rank requiring less chakra, but because I am unsure as to whether it can destroy the area all the way up to long range, or just certain areas that are long range away; I am leaning towards the Banquet of lightning technique which I know for sure can affect the area all the way until it reaches Yu (up to long range). Also the fact that it travels quite quickly, it can compromise Yu before he can launch any kind of surprise attack from beneath."
. . . .
And what does it mean when it states "they can escape to a depth where your opponent cannot reach." He must still be within a certain 'range' though right? He can't just be out of range ? <_<

Anyway, I thought this would be a promising method, but I feel like it's too complicated, or at least you guys are complicating it. xD It's too much read and takes away too much time. Broly, just tone it down. One example is enough. I just like to hear the way you think. You can obviously save your ideas and secrets for actual battles.
Now, all you had to do (Ausar) was to use it, describing how it works and Broly had to react to you vanishing, by maybe using the volcano eruption technique that brings up objects from deep within the ground. You don't need to attack him with other techniques. Just use the one I post you, the way its described. This gives me insight into your understanding of the technique. You obviously skipped my explanation or didn't understand it, because it clearly says in there that you need to stop the technique for handseals. Now, wanna do it again? Simpler, please?
Oh, btw. no offense guys, nothing personal. I just feel like it's an overkill. I know you want to prove yourself, but you do that simply by understanding your tasks and the techniques. That's all. ^^

It's alright, sensei. I understand, we were a little too enthusiastic, now weren't we?
And I read your explanation, I just didn't fully understand. Well, now I do!
I already provided an explanation on the workings of this jutsu in my first post, I'll simply cover it here again:

*I channel my chakra through the earth, applying the same principle as the rock-dissolving exercise earlier. The ground around me starts turning into a finely-grained sand. Suddenly, I fall into the ground; as if it were quicksand. I sink in.*
*I initially panic, but I realize this is part of the jutsu. I then apply Method 1, channeling my own Doton chakra around my body to hasten the conversion of earth into sand. Then, applying Methods 2 and 3, it allows me to flow my chakra through the underground, forming a path that allows me to start burrowing quickly.*
*I disappear into the ground, and quickly acclimate to my new surroundings as I begin to burrow. I can sense both sensei and L as they are above me.*
Yeah from now on I won't list all my ideas for someone to steal for their own trainings/battles.
Sorry about killing it.. I think Ausar and I got a bit competitive xD
I am sorry for coming in here and overcomplicating what was a good training before my appearance :/ I'm sorry Ausar.
You gave me an awesome counter, but I don't want to copy so I'll stick with the technique I decided upon initially and use,
(Raiton: Ikazuchi no Utage) - Lightning Release: Lightning Burial ~ Banquet of Lightning
It's alright, sensei. I understand, we were a little too enthusiastic, now weren't we?
And I read your explanation, I just didn't fully understand. Well, now I do!
I already provided an explanation on the workings of this jutsu in my first post, I'll simply cover it here again:
And now, I'll perform it.

Much better. Now comes the part after seeing the use of the technique and a defense/offense against it. Basically, your use was correct and there's not much to it. Now I'm not sure if that attack would really work. You can't know for sure how deep he went without some form of sensing and I'm definitely sure that techniques just races along the surface and doesn't go very deep. Now, in my previous post I gave a very good way get him back onto the ground. I'll even post it here.
(Doton: Kaido Shōkutsu) - Earth Style: Opening Earth Rising Excavation
Rank: S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Long
Chakra cost: 40
Damage points: N/A
Description: With the technique, the user can bring up something from deep within the ground. The result of which has the appearance and near size of an erupting volcano.
Yes that is an awesome counter Seems there could be better alternatives than to use an S Rank technique like so though to counter this particular technique.. unless you were absolutely desperate. xD But it's still cool. I'll use that technique one day

Yeah, it is a bit over-reactive but sometimes ranks don't matter. The next technique on the list is:
(Doton: Doryū Taiga) - Earth Release: Earth Flow River
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: After forming the needed hand sealTiger, the user transforms the ground underneath their opponent into a river of mud that throws them off balance and away from the user. The mud created by this technique can also be used as a medium for the Earth Release: Earth Dragon Bullet technique.
This is the technique that Hiruzen used against Orochimaru while they were fighting on the roof. Even though there was no earth around, he was able to pull it off because he was an earth master. However, you will need earth because of the description. Now, as your opponent is standing there all you do it turn the ground beneath him into mud in order to throw them off balance. This should give you enough time to attack as they're trying to stabilize.
L was keen to perform this technique. He hated defending, and was glad to be attacking this time!
"I hope you're ready Yu."
L gathers his chakra up within his body and begins to mold this chakra in doton chakra. Once this is done he channels this chakra into the ground and lets it travel below Yu, where he concentrates it and lets it gather beneath him. A substantial amount of chakra now gathered below Yu, L performs the Tiger hand seal,

..before manipulating his doton chakra to convert the area of earth beneath Yu it had gathered under to turn into mud using shape/structural manipulation.
*The ground beneath him turning into mud, Yu finds himself a bit wobbly legged.*
Upon feeling a loss of balance from the Mud River, Yu quickly tries to think of a counter. Ahhh... there were too many techniques to choose from! However, one particular one struck him.
Quickly gathering Doton Chakra in his hands, Yu then proceeds to slam the muddy ground with his open palms, channeling his chakra through the ground. Then suddenly, a portion of the Earth in which Yu is standing on solidifies and raises from the ground, allowing him to avoid being engulfed by the rest of the mud river. It raises him above L and sensei.
(Doton: Chidōkaku) - Earth Release: Moving Earth Core
Rank: A
Type: Offensive, Defensive, Supplementary
Range: Short - Long
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user lowers or raises the ground in the surrounding area at high speeds, allowing them to create giant holes in the ground or avoid attacks. The size of the affected area as well as the depths that it is lowered to is up to the user and rasing earth can be done up to 20 meters tall creating a small cliff or they can create trenches that can be as deep as 20 meters. Other than being moved below ground relative to the surrounding surface the terrain is not altered, plant life and people retaining their same positions.
Yu calls out. "Sensei, is this a good counter?!"
(I figure this Jutsu would help me to get higher ground advantage and avoid the mud flow river at the same time)

@Ausar - I'm not sure it would work as you describe. See, it wouldn't solidify the mud and it would only rise it together with you. You have to see the purpose of the technique (losing balance) and then do the opposite (regain balance). Maybe a spike that you grab would be good. Then you could also use it to build up momentum and launch yourself from the spike at your opponent.
Can I just emit chakra from the bottom of my feet regaining my balance and allowing me to stay some what buoyant atop of the mud? i.e. I won't sink into the mud. So this would have the same idea as Water Surface Walking or Tree Climbing Practice?
Or I could emit Doton chakra from the bottom of my feet, solidifying the mud and wrapping to about the ankles in earth, which would immobilize me, but would at least allow me to regain my balance. I should then still be able to counter any techniques in this state, remembering that I wouldn't allow myself to remain immobile and would allow myself to 'rise' from the earth back to ground level or whatever using a simple Earth release technique *create a small pillar for example?
Or as you stated, I would have gone for a spike to grab hold of. For instance, (Doton: Doryūsō) - Earth Release: Earth Flow Spears, would be a useful one as it can allow spikes to be produced from mud which is convenient.
Once balance is regained, then you are free to defend yourself further or attack or whatever. That's my take anyway. I have no idea if these are possible, just some ideas.

Oh, ok. I see. But wouldn't what I did work too? Since it causes the ground to rise, I could regain my balance by causing the solid ground underneath the mud river to rise up and allow me to regain my footing? It also gives me the high ground.
