They were both cautious of each other not scared. And honestly I think Obito could beat him BUT why would he go through the trouble of fighting Itachi? It's not worth it. Itachi is pretty powerful and you never know how things will turn out and how would he explain that to the other members of the Akatsuki? Most of them had no idea he was te leader they all probably would've turned on him or something. Obito knew Itachi's impending doom was going to happen sooner or later.

This means that minato defeated obito when Itachi was 6. That was 7 years before the uchiha clan massacre took place (making Itachi 13). This is when itachiYou must be registered for see linksobito, & this is when they had that "deal". Obito was merely humoring Itachi for the plot's sake, obito could've attacked konoha in the 7 year time period before he even met up with Itachi, lol...
All in all, Itachi did nothing to stop obito's plans, he was simply a plot shield.

Well I'm not saying that Itachi wasnt a threat, but my point still stands. Obito had 7 years to attack konoha before he even knew who Itachi was. Obito was never afraid of Itachi's power, & Itachi was never the reason why obito was reluctant to attack konoha. Worst case scenario & itachi decides to reveal info, who would then believe him? Itachi was an enemy in konoha's eyes, I dont see how they would consider anything he has to say.

Itachi would have loved EMS and he could have taken Sasuke's sharingan and got it... if he killed Naruto..
Then Itachi would have killed TObi.. then Itachi would have given his sharingan to Sasuke and let Sasuke kill him..

there was nothing anyone after Minato died could have done about Kamui.. but Itachi has a large range reaching genjutsu and you wouldn't know when you were in it. Without MS Itachi wasn't a serious enough threat to Obito..

Exactly! People still don't get it. If obito attacked the village while Itachi was alive there would have reprocussions that he didn't want to deal with.
I'm not saying Obito is weaker than Itachi, but their's no doubt Itachi would have been a extremely difficult person to fight.

Nagato meant HE and Itachi were BOTH used (because of their eyes) by TOBI AND Kabuto.. you can tell he means both of them when he brings up Edo Tensei referring to it as "this technique" ..
I do think Tobi was nervous around Itachi though and he did underestimate him and admitted it to Sasuke..
Kabuto also underestimated Itachi and Orochimaru underestimated Itachi all while praising him at the same time.
He *Itachi* could have beaten Tobi.. I think... :]
Yeah he was afraid of him a little.. :itachi: or cautious and vice versa I think.

It is not that Obito is afraid of Itachi...Itachi is just a threat for Obito that's y he is a bit carefull abt Itachi ...
If he is really afraid of Itachi he would have ordered Nagato to kill Itachi....
