I see what u mean, but how are you gonna blame religion?
Religion is what gave the people the okay to do it. That, and Bishops with a lot of power. Heck, it even impeded progress of knowledge on the fear that it may go against scripture. What if it was just suddenly...gone? The period in which Science was blockaded would no longer be there and millions upon millions of people would still be alive. The Jews would be the most populous religious demographic again. The time from which the Church persecuted scientists would be added to the present, giving us
several hundred years of technological development.
science can't prove everything
What it cannot prove, we will find out in the future when more sophisticated technology is available. The best thing about scientists is that we are not afraid to say "I don't know."
This "cannot prove everything" does not mean demons, possessions, or deities have free reign, thinking it's okay now. Thinking so is permitting "The God of the Gaps" fallacy, a falsehood.
It may explain the EXISTENCE of supernatural happenings, but it can't take the FULL credit of the occurences.
This is a Strawman Fallacy. Never in the discussion did we assume that supernatural happenings existed--I saw you try to fit that one in there. Because there is no empirical evidence for the existence of this sort of happenings, we must assume that there is no proof of these happenings and that they must simply be poppycock.
Because he's just another atheist who believe science is the answer to all questions.
Do you know what the definition of Science is?
To know. It's a Latin name! Science literally defines the pursuit of knowledge. It's why we know so much. I wonder how much we would know if we weren't persecuted so much
I just don't think that religion is to blame for it
Not 100% mind you. I'm sorry if I allegedly fit that in. It's clear that there are good people in religion. This therefore suggests that Religion is only responsible for 51% of the reason wars occur. The other 49% percent is Human Psychology and Politics.
