By what hes actually shown, hes fodder compared to top-tier shinobi. He wouldnt beat a single member of the Akatsuki but his hype is the only thing that gives him any credibility. Until he actually shows something impressive he should never be mentioned in the same breath as Hashirama

You mean the two Hokages whose powers were reduced? Even part2 Yamato has more impressive feats in mokuton then part1 Hashirama.

Edo zombies who in Hashirama's case, did not even use his three strongest attacks. They were not even close to their current state. An aging, blind Hiruzen catching a live Hashirama who can summon forests at will is laughable

What you guys are seriously forgetting is that hiruzen was in a weakend state as well. Even if the hokages werent at full power, niether was hiruzen, so the match was even. So the fact that a old weakend hiruzen was still able to compete with and defeat Orochimaru and the edo's is a very impressive feat.
Hiruzen was far from his peak shape. Even orochimaru commented that the battle would have ended diferently had hiruzen only been 10 years younger.
I have come to understand that Hiruzen on the base is considered by most to be "fodder" I don't understand why he gets ranked so low especially if he didn't even get the chance to show his full abilities in the war yet. Shuriken Shadow Clone jutsu was just to analyze Obito's attacks. Also anyone saying he does not have an A rank technique is wrong. Shuriken Shadow Clone Jutsu IS an A rank technique
I find it hard to believe that someone whom both Hashirama and Tobirama believed in to protect the future shinobi could be weak.
Here is what I know
- 3rd person to earn the name "God of Shinobi. Surprisingly only 3 shinobi share this name. The SO6P, Hashirama Senju and Hiruzen Sarutobi. If Tobirama and Minato were strong, how come they never earned these titles. Hiruzen must have done something great in order to earn this nickname.

Kabuto even said that he was the strongest out of the 5 Kage despite his old age!
Failed post. He was stating inferiority in his dying moments. Kabuto stated his rep as the strongest out of the 5 Kage. Even Kabuto was surprised that Orochimaru still got out alive.

I base these judgments of strength on what we actually witness to happen in the manga. Besides RDS, Hiruzen has no jutsu that appear to be above jounin-level techniques. And even his RDS is a weakend version of Minato's in which he has to hold on to his opponent for dear life for it to work. Not likely to work against anyone worthy of note. Enma is his only weapon which is remotely impressive, which really does not stand up to Hahsi's thousand hands or even his wood dragon
