Good example. Manga canonically states via dan that the only one that can beat madara is the first hokage. No such statement exists for itachi.

And yes, i believe edo hiruzen could beat current naruto, till the manga says otherwise.

i think it referred to the hokages who were the strongest ninjas during their reign. may be tobi(even manga doesn giv considerable information on him),hiruzen(thru manga) and minato(thru manga) were the strongest shinobis(overall) during their era.

shinobis like third raikage also existed during the reign of hiruzen,also he was a endurance specialist.so hiruzen might have been more balanced than him.

another interpretation is that it would mean the strongest shinobis on the good side(unlike madara who is against shinob world). thisis judst my opinion ,this also implies that the four hokages were the strongest shinobi during their reign.

Minato will win with high difficulty....minato is too fast to counter his amaterasu and he know about sharingan very well so he must be aware of any genjutsu....and i dont think itachi's body is strong like the raikage's.., so he'll get stabbed by the rasengan from behind just like he did with obito...

If you're referring to obito, as i recall there was no such similarity implied .
