Yeah how come Naruto didn't even know that he was a wind style user? What the hell was Jirayia teaching him during those two years haha

Don't forget he trained to break free from gen-jutsu for that to only end up badly when trapped in Itachis..

Jiraiya should of worked on his toad summoning skills, like got him to summon all the different types, have them fight along side him. Plenty of strong shinobis do it, so why shouldn't Naruto? Bigger Rasengans should of just come as part of his development naturally, not as some chance of going nuts when using it because of Kyuubi chakra thing.

Perhaps, even the one tailed cloak should of been unlocked, that would of given him a lot of power without really overpowering him at that stage.

I agree with all of this post but bolded he probably didn't wanna do to avoid DBZ'ing the manga.

of course, with KM mode and BM mode, it kind of ended up happening anyway.

Yet Naruto > OP in terms of popularity

the sad truth,

which any OP fan have to deal and live with it.

So? Popularity doesn't matter and that's coming from someone that likes Naruto way more than OP.

I though 'that jutsu' was the big ball rasengan. Remember Jiraiya warned him agaisnt using it.. it would explain it since he tapped into Kuramas chakra to use it.

That's a cool theory. I guess it could have just been big ball rasengan.

I disagree with Zoro being cold-hearted. Zoro gets the job done and does it well, he still would go with Luffy into hell and back to rescue someone even if it wasn't entirely the best idea.

Sanji, he had bigger pervspasms really and guys, he has had enough of them for a lifetime..

I meant that Zoro SEEMS more "cold-hearted" than before. He's always been serious but timeskip Zoro has more of a death stare and a form of "arrogance". Like this:

Pre-timeskip:"Come on! I'll take you!"
Post-Timeskip:*smirk* "hmph"

I count DBZing something as destroying planets and flying and shooting laser beams from every readily available body part. I love the manga, both Naruto and DBZ but people always like to play the 'its too much like DBZ' card. Kishi was inspired by Akira and tbh, it could be far far more like DBZ in terms of destructivness if Kishi wanted it to..

I do see how it is a bit weird though that in part 1 some powers where amazing but now, they suck. That just shows he didn't want to keep it that way.

Ah, right. Yeah, that is true. Zoro would scare the bejesus outta me** if he was real.. Still, he is one awesome dude.

To me, there are two main features to DBZ'ing a manga.
1. most prior effective moves and techs are useless vs 2-3 things that become powerhouses.
2. 'This isn't even my final form' -> lots of 'forms' and power-ups like ss, ss2, ss3, etc.

1 in naruto hasn't been that severe. Even though many part 1 things have become useless, there are still lots of other techs that are very useful and very powerful beyond just what 2-3 characters have. They aren't all just pure power either. so I agree that naruto isn't full on dbz yet.

2 in naruto has been worse. Uchiha have had several form upgrades, and so has naruto. as the forms progress, there abilities have primarily focused on increasing power of purely destructive moves. The exception being both sasukes eye genjutsu and narutos healing aura. In this regard naruto has become quite DBZ-like.

I wouldn't go so far as to say there's too much in common or that naruto doesn't have it's own style of story-telling or whatever, but it's just what I've noticed.

I agree, but can you really call that DBZing? I know DBZ kinda made this kinda stuff what it is today, but really, it IS a Japanese manga, there is bound to be power-ups that gets power-ups. It kinda just goes with the territory.

I think the purpose of all that was for "that jutsu"

I agree it was really lame that two arcs later Naruto needed another training arc, but I'm cool I guess. But to be fair, those developments in one piece come out like a hundred chapters later. Oda takes his sweet little time getting things out, so I won't give him too much credit. Kishi got right to the point and didn't waste time

And gaara arc >>>>>>>> fishman island by leaps and bounds. Fishman island was garbage.

That being said, Buggy ftmw! :D
I think that jiraiya was training naruto for that Jutsu too
That Jutsu requires kuramas yang chakra

The yin was sealed and the yang was given to naruto

Jiraiya tried teaching naruto how to repel kuramas mind

Which is how you control kuramas chakra

This is that Jutsu

It's common, but DBZ really refined it with things like distinct power levels, distinct form upgrades (ss, ss2, ss3, lss, etc.) little focus on anything other then pure power techs, etc.

akira on the other hand, a manga that also had 'power-ups' was much more fluid. we never really knew how powerful anyone was and it wasn't like 'AH HA, I AM NOW A STAGE 6 PSYCHIC, I CAN DO X' oh NO he's a stage 6 now we need a stage 7 to defeat him!

In my mind dbz distilled this kind of writing to a form of addictive purity that makes it hard not to compare other mangas to it specifically when these tropes do come up.

We've still got "that jutsu" to look forward to.
I'm not at that point in One Piece yet, but the characters in Naruto did advance.. maybe not as drastically as you're citing in One Piece, but they advanced and got new techniques. Characters that got A LOT stronger since Part 2 began:
Sakura, Hinata, Neji, Lee, Kakashi (MS), Shikamaru, Ino, etc. The other characters just show abilities that they didn't in Part 1.

I agree with this. Also personality wise, most of the K11 matured a lot.

I hope that there is a 'that jutsu' to look forward to! It must be something awesome.

OP destroys Naruto, timeskip and overall.

So much character development, plot moved along, a lot of characters improved and to be honest, i quite liked the Fishman Island arc.
Where as Naruto got a little stronger, Sakura could punch stronger and Gaara was Kazekage, that is all.

I guess I can agree that most of K11 went up in 'innate power' even if they didn't learn any new techs, or do anything special beyond simply 'training'

but making them more mature turned a lot of their characters into boring, bland people. their immaturity was actually interesting.
