You are not getting it completely. One thread per anime? What about mangas, comics, cartoons etc.? Do you have any idea how many there are of those? Having 20 stickied threads goes against the purpose of sticking them in the first place. As I said people can just make themselves such official threads, I'm even willing to disregard the one month rule for such threads. But it remains a fact that most people can't follow nor maintain such a structure, which is the reason I never did it myself even though I thought about it a long time ago.
Again, this would only be for popular anime/manga/cartoon/comics which have countless threads made for these subjects per week. Now how many series fitting these criteria could have a thread every three months when the new season comes out? From what I'm seeing it would only be Attack on Titan and the new DBZ movie scheduled to come out. That's two stickied threads, not 20.

How is this any different from you stickying all the Korra episode discussions? Apart from the fact that you also enjoyed the show and liked to discuss it. It's far less frequent and you don't even have to make the thread, someone else can do it and it can get stickied. That takes what, 10 seconds, if that to do the moderator side of things...

What do you mean by the discussion being ineffective in multiple thread? As in, it would be more effective if concentrated in one? How?
And, how does making many threads about this affect it all?
I'm not quite clear on what you mean here, could you please explain?
It's like, instead of having five different members make five different threads, there's one thread which is stickied and used to discuss the series at hand.

If anything and I'm sorry for derailing this suggestion from the original idea, but this should be done for a recommendation thread.

Hmm?
Ok, so that's the form this suggestion would take, but I still don't understand how effectiveness plays in here. I mean, how does only one official thread make whatever it is you deem as being done ineffectively, effective?

You don't need a sticky thread to discuss the different manga/anime you watch/read. Create a thread and begin posting your thoughts. If the discussion thread doesn't attract other fans to discuss and debate with you, there's no point in discussing that anime/manga here (since you'll be the only one posting as well as a couple others asking what that anime/manga is about) nor is there a reason to sticky that thread if it's dead. Look at the manga/anime section at OPB for example.

The suggestion is more or less to prevent 5 different threads on the same topic. Back when Caliburn made all the episode discussions for Korra, no other threads were made pertaining to the topic because there was an official one to talk about it.

It's more for the series' which are already garnering so much popularity on the forums, and such already have a ton of threads pertaining to the idea. Sure it doesn't need to be stickied, but when there's 5 other threads on the same topic, wouldn't it be better for the place to be cleaner and have an official thread; stickied or not rather than a bunch of threads created within the same span of a week all of the same topic?

Both you and I are talking about the same thing. I'm leaning towards not having them stickied. With one discussion thread, there wouldn't be more than one topic - just the discussion thread for a certain manga or anime. The sticky feature is just so that certain topics stay on top but if the discussion thread is active, it'll most likely be always on the first page.

What I'm getting at is, only one thread is required (you can call it 'official' if you will) but it shouldn't be stickied.

So in other words, creating that thread would have an effect on the amount of threads made with the same topic, meaning less of these being created, focusing the discussion, sort of.
But, what do you mean by 'same topic' then? Because, to me, making a thread about an anime: you can make it about the anime as a whole as in how some recommendation thread or comparison to another anime etc., and also about specific things in the anime, even relating these to bigger issues: like how Naruto handles the idea of war and strife and how to solve it, relating that to how we could solve ours or how it relates overall to our world's problems.
What I'm getting at is; what kind of topics would this kind of thread cover?
