Exactly. The guy is basically flawless. And that's why I don't like him.

I see what you mean, in a way he is basically flawless, thats kishi pulled that unknown disease no jutsu on him to try to lower him but it hardly effected him, itachi is simply a stable character. Put him against characters like nagato and in the end he will outwit him with his battle smarts and calm thinking like he showed against edo nagato most likely imo.

I disagree. Factually, he may fault at Sasuke but call it what you want, it's goddamn kryponite. Itachi is anime superman who is never in any danger and whose writer can invent new powers for him when he needs them.

Sasuke being his weakness just shows how 'merciful' and 'honourable' he is, which only adds to the perfect image Kishi writes him as

I do completely see where you're coming from but what are you gonna do. Kishi clearly plays to fna favourites and his own personal character preferences, if Itachi's big weaknesses were exploited and he lost people would get annoyed.

Think about it, all of the fan favourites that aren't main characters have little to no flaws, Minato, Hashirama etc. Minato doesn't even have character flaws a bit like Itachi, and even if they do they'll never be exploited in order to appease fans. I personally find characters who aren't as popular eg Obito a lot more interesting because of this.

His chakra levels are fine. His physical stamina is what sucks.

Edit: Kabuto destroys Itachi in a 1 on 1 fight. Whoever says no is an

Itachi was never said to be immortal... and also, there are plenty of people who can kill him.

like the way you explained your view *_*.
i know what you mean but think about it, itachi lived most of his life as a rogue (hated by everyone) surrounded by enemies that he had to spy on and was going through the pain/shock of what he had to do (eliminating the uchiha) so i don't see any room for him to act differently (other than being calm and cold) and he also had to seem COLD because of his cover (had to hide any regret/shock/grieve from killing the uchiha).
i always liked how he shed tears of blood (using the sharingan) coz it kind of showed the unimaginable pain this character went through (even if he looked ice COLD). we already know that he was wise, smart but there was no room for the writer to show us the HUMAN itachi yet he did, it was what he told sasuke in his last minutes and showing his regret about killing the uchiha (also his flash backs before he got affected by what happened).
love or hate itachi is up to you (don't let the silly fan boys ruin it for you). as for me this character will always be one of my favorites =D

Idkk, I always liked him. Just think back, even before he turned good. He could have easily killed Kakashi, but he didn't. Same goes for Asuma and Kurenai. Also why did he let his brother live? I doubt it was so he could fight him again in the future...

I <3 your hashtag. You remember when Kabuto fought Itachi and Sasuke? He was not trying too kill them, and was at a 2 on 1 disadvantage.

-- Kabuto caught them in a genjutsu.

-- Itachi needed Sasuke and Sasuke needed Itachi too break out of the genjutsu.

While it appears you might be onto something, that is not actually the case. Itachi has a personality, just one that was'nt portrayed(except for a few times) by kishi to us readers clearly.

War and suffering and loss shaped him as a child, that was the time he was weak, vulnerable and not in control of the situation at all, contrary to what you state in the OP.

The way we saw him, he became that way after having gone through years of self conflict and turmoil until he was finally able to put up a hard exterior that seemed invincible/perfect. What was underneath all that was the real Itachi. It was quite accurately stated in the 3rd databook about his personality, a caring brother and a kind person, that he would choose to be a ninja was the ultimate irony.

Imagine someone being a naturally gifted sportsman of extreme abilities but who does'nt actually live for sports but kinda just reluctantly carries on playing. Something along those lines, and while no exact real life copies exist, there are similar people in rl. You just have to substitute it like this ' for a shinobi, to do something like that is like a sportsperson to ....'

Now, i am 100% sure that Itachi did/would've lost to some people, maybe when he took the chuunin exams or w.e. The only thing is kishi didnt show it but does'nt mean it did'nt/could'nt have happened.

I think what you are missing, the most crucial point is this:

Itachi knew his limits. So, if there were a fight/situation where he knew he could'nt win, he would'nt get into it or he'd get aid in it. Someone like naruto tries to fight everyone, and can get beat up in the process(he's got guts but no brains lol).
Itachi on the other hand: he knows he may lose to madara, so he leaves that to naruto and bee. He had a good idea that taking on kabuto and ending his edo tensei tech was something he was more suited towards so he opted for that.

Take his time in Akatsuki. He 1 shotted Oro and deidara, but he never even tried to confront Obito or Pain. Because he knew he would lose, and how far he could go. That was the thing about him. So it naturally appeared as if he were invincible, its just that he knew himself and what he could and could'nt do.

Hope that made sense.

Deidara. Orochimaru. They are very strong.

deidara hmmmm ..... not so much.
oro hmmmm ..... weakened, desperate for a body ..... not really.

it is true, itachi never fought a REALLY strong opponent 1on1 (in some of his fights he had back up for a reason).

If you took your time to read my post, more or less the same I took to read yours, you'd be knowing that you keep repeating a reasoning explicitly contradicted by the manga.

Itachi is not perfect nor flawless.

Orochimaru is the best example probably, and Orochimaru's unfortunate weakness is genjutsu. The fact that Itachi was in possession of the Totsuka blade was a MacGuffin, definitely, and I understand the position that everytime Itachi fights, he manages to pull out another Sharingan-based jutsu from his butt to win. However, it feels apparent to me that Kishi loves Itachi more than I do or especially the die-hard Itachi people. Itachi is among the truest heroes of Konoha who gave their lives for its protection, like Yondaime or EroSennin. Some people would say slaughtering his whole family makes him more of a hero than those 2 I mentioned. Personally, I would have enjoyed seeing more of Itachi and Kisame together, working jobs and getting into mischief. The flashback scene when Kisame is singing his swan song is the best (Kisame and Itachi on a dock: "People like us never die well," or something like that).
