Secluded in an opening in the middle of a forest Shisui stood leaning with his back against a tree. His sight were on the grassy mass of land in front of him, but his thoughts were on the overcast sky above him.

Suddenly a mist forms, a thick one at that all you know is that the sky is no longer visable to you. You hear a faint voice from afar or you think it's from far away. Asks you a question!

Why are you here and what do you want? Answer these to my liking or else I would be forced to kill you on the spot. Careful with your movemnets as I am watching you closely.

Shisui's eyes widen as he watches the mist instantly dissipate. He instantly knew it was a genjutsu, mist cannot disappear that quickly. He felt stupid due to his lack of genjutsu experience. As the man emerged from the shadows, he knew this was the man he had been looking for. Shisui looked at him took a deep breath then began to speak:
"Genjutsu is the disruption of an opponent’s chakra flow by using your chakra to fluctuate on your opponents mind and chakra through ocular contact. Once this is done, it allows the user to manipulate the opponents mind and can inhibit his or hers 5 senses. (Not all at the same time) Therefore allowing an illusion/genjutsu to take place. With precise chakra control the user can force feelings and images into the opponents mind making them feel trapped or for example, making them see a figure of someone then that figure will grow at an alarming rate until it overwhelms them. The list of possibilities for genjutsu are almost endless. Though it is mainly instigated through eye contact. There are shinobi who can place someone under genjutsu without having to make eye contact. People who are great at genjutsu should be good at breaking free from genjutsu but that isn’t always the case. Greatness in genjutsu comes from the user being able to make the opponent believe the illusion is completely real. Resulting in them gripping on to what they see and not being able to distinguish fiction from fact. In order to break free from genjutsu the user must be acutely aware of the surroundings, pay high attention to detail, (this is one of the most important factors.) notice the flaws in the genjutsu then figure out how to release himself from it. This must all be done in a very short space of time. Those who don’t think quickly and pay attention will die in most combat situations. By the time they are freed the user would have been able to gain a huge advantage over the one caught in the genjutsu.
Knowing or figuring out that you are trapped in a genjutsu is not enough to get you out of genjutsu. You need to disrupt your chakra flow to return it back to its normal state. Kai is one of the most commonly used techniques to get out of genjutsu. Naruto didn’t know how to stop genjutsu so Jiraiya tried to help him protect himself by stopping his own flow of chakra to the brain. Therefore releasing a genjutsu. There are many other ways of getting out of genjutsu without using your chakra though. You can bite a piece of your lip off, this will get you out of a B-rank illusion. The classic stab to the thigh with your kunai. This has many downsides though. Pain is a good way to get out of genjutsu but that specific technique has downfalls. Due to the fact that the higher the rank of genjutsu you are under the deeper and harder you have to stab yourself. Which means your mobility will be reduced significantly. A chakra surge also works like Chidori Nagashi but it consumes chakra making you vulnerable later and in the RP sense of thing exhaust a move. Those who have a doujutsu are able to recognise they are in a genjutsu easily by simply looking at themselves. They will be able to see their own chakra fluctuating thus them instantly knowing they have been placed under genjutsu.
Sakki – Killing intent, even though it isn’t a genjutsu. it has similar effects to one. Mastery over genjutsu prevents sakki from working through sheer mental resilience of all the training in genjutsu. Understanding the range and potency of each genjutsu is vital. If a genjutsu is simple and you are at the end of what is considered mid-range. The opponent will break out of the genjutsu before your following attack will inflict any damage, allowing them to still have time to counter-act wasting your mental capabilities. Timing is essential for an effective genjutsu. In order to have really mastered it the user should know exactly when to use the genjutsu and understand human emotions and reactions in order to use the appropriate to following attack. Understanding each genjutsu results in the right follow up measure. Because once you understand each genjutsu ,you will know how to counter it and then use your knowledge to make your opponents counter a weakness. For example: If you fighting a lightning user and they aren’t the best at genjutsu. You can make the user feel trapped by walls of earth enclosing on them in your genjutsu and while your genjutsu is taking effect, the chances of a lighting surge are high. So as the opponent falls under your genjutsu you can dowse them in water. So when they use Chidori Nagashi it harms them extensively. Tell me you stated that you needed to know the genjutsu in order to break it. Having a better understanding of a jutsu, but what if you never seen it before? what are you going to do?

Understanding the technique will only decrease the time it takes for you to realise that you are trapped in genjutsu and escape it. When it comes to techniques you have never seen before. You need to then cling to logic, understanding and your analytical skills. Every genjutsu has a weakness and sometimes the one who uses it becomes the weakness itself in some cases. The small details that don't correlate with the emotions you are feeling or the basic physical details that aren't correlating with the with what your eyes see.(Sorry for breaking character to explain this) For example: There was a tournament and the opponent used a jutsu to make clouds form and then rain. The opponent then cast a genjutsu which made his target see the clouds part right above and a meteor would then descend upon him through the parting. He then followed up with a physical attack. He didn't escape the genjutsu correctly so therefore he died by the oncoming attack. Analysing will save someone in many situations like that. Before the genjutsu was cast it was raining on the field, when he was in the genjutsu the clouds parted above him. Now looking at the clouds parting in the genjutsu you would assume the rain would have stopped hitting your body? But in reality it didn't, the rain would still fall and therefore your body would still be getting wet and anyone who has been in rain knows you can hear it as it hits your ears. Two very basic sensations allowing you to realise that you were in a genjutsu. Quick thinking and constantly being aware of your environment and the changes in it. With your relative thinking process, it becomes a saving grace when it comes to genjutsu you are unfamiliar with...

( Magen: Kokoni Arazu no Jutsu ) - Demonic Illusion: False Surroundings Technique

To enhance the genjutsu: If the user is an Uchiha he could shout "amaterasu!" Then place the opponent under this genjutsu and change the area around the target into a ring of black flames. This will then force them to stay where they are, go upwards or downwards. Though extreme change in terrain makes this genjutsu very easy to to figure out. The main problem is touch, because if the opponent sees flames but feels no heat then the genjutsu is figured out. If you turn the hard ground beneath him into mud or quicksand and they don't feel sand rushing in between their toes then it will be revealed. There are many variations to this technique, but for the few seconds it takes to figure out. Opens a door of offensive possibility.

Not bad. Like you said there is no sense of feel with this technique and as for the ametaratsu i don't think it can be worked this way. This jutsu is for the existing terrain to be altered. It all depends on what kind of terrain you are in. Best to use it with layered genjutsu [will explain layering later] or something subtle. It's more of a trapping technique and masking something in order to have a better outcome later on.

Well, first off it takes five hand seals to preform making it dead give-away. Meaning the opponent expects something to happen if he or she sees the forming seals.It is still performed at short/mid range so a thrown kunai could easily reach them by the time it takes to perform the genjutsu. However it is still effective when it comes to its illusionary prowess. The fact that the user is normally at a distance, hinders the opponent from deciphering what jutsu has just been used. That will give you enough time to launch an attack preferably at high speed. It is a genjutsu that can only be deuced when the petals reach the target.(making it quite good in that regard, unless an elemental/physical technique is used which would go straight through the unwavering petals. A very obvious sign.) The huge flaw is the sheer fact that the petal that cover your movements also reveal the fact that it is in fact a genjutsu. Cherry blossom petals like most petals have a distinct scent, if hundreds of petals were circling you. You would surely receive some kind of aroma considering the fact that there are so many. Petals of all kinds have a scent even if it is faint. In order for the petals to remain upright or surround you there should be some form of wind involved if you can't hear it,smell it or feel it then it isn't there. Running your hands,fingers or weapon through the petals will also reveal the illusion. The fact that the wind doesn't move the petals makes it very suspect from the start. That isn't enough information though, hard proof like running your fingers through the petals and the fact that they have no scent, make no sound, pick up no wind whilst travelling towards you and stay upright in front of you makes it very clear that it is a diversion and a genjutsu.

a lot of summoning techniques require 5 handseals. What if i perform them and explain that it's a Custom Element?

The fact that you can't touch them, like when Iruka tried to put Sakura under genjutsu before the chunnin exams is the same effect. (You can simply walk straight through the genjutsu) Sorry about that, when I RP I generally put things like that into consideration in my statements. The movement of the petals moving through the air would still make a sound in reality even if it is a CE you can't make air particles disappear. The petals would always be intangible regardless, a natural reaction to protect ones self when dealing with a lot or objects scattering from a single spot to another spot is the weed planting approach. Destroy it before it spreads. Feeling them or trying to get them out of your line of sight when surrounded by them will still reveal the fact that they aren't real. Relying on smell isn't that great. The petals intangibility are it's greatest flaw..

You some how jumped ahead on what i was gonna explain later on XD we will get back to this and it's explaination a bit later when we cover "kai, release, deduction and layering"

btw from here on out, until i say "you have mastered genjutsu" You are not to use Any genjutsu techniques I've posted. It's merely a training tool and you shall understand every aspect of it before using. Regarding your bio, under genjutsu it shall state in progress instead of a rank. None of the techniques I post you are able to use unless i deem so.

( Kasumi Jūsha no Jutsu ) - Mist Servant Technique

Description: This illusion creates numerous illusionary clones of the user that appear to emerge from the ground, trees, rocks, etc. If these clones are attacked, they appear to multiply. The user can co-ordinate his attacks with the clones to make it appear as if they are real.

Ok this genjutsu is no joke...

This genjutsu has so many pro's.. The main one being the element of surprise and overwhelming.. The user can not only conceal himself amongst the clones, hiding his intentions or attacks he can also co-ordinate their attacks meaning that he can use them to create a well thought out strategy. It can also be used as a defensive measure when over powered in a close combat situation.The sudden appearance will distract anyone even a sharingan or byakugan user for a short moment. It doesn't work very well against Doujutsu users but to others it can be quite effective... Unfortunately/fortunately the Giant Multi-Headed Dog summon and Zetsu makes this even more difficult to deduce. Especially if it is in the beginning of combat, but unlike real clones they can't hurt you and if you attack them they multiply. You could guess it's a genjutsu but what about the user having a special clone technique. So even deducing it by that remark isn't enough. When it comes to this genjutsu a huge help can be the fact that the clones are an illusion after all. Figuring out the original amongst the clones will help. If you kick up a large amount of sand concealing yourself(Because the clones don't have synced vision) When the sand settles it will go through the clones and settle on the original. Huge jutsu's from the user will give his location away. (To be realistic you can't always see a genjutsu and say Kai then escape.. You need to fight within a genjutsu sometimes..) Wetting the battlefield will force the users divide to show like a rock in a river. Because the user doesn't have synced vision once you establish the situation you can turn the genjutsu around on him and conceal yourself amongst his clones. (Cutting the clones will reveal your location but also keep your moves hidden if you realise he at long range.) An arch of wind will make the clone situation worse but the original will always be forced to protect himself. If the user just uses his clones to hide himself and not attack you with them. Knowing they can't hurt will make the opponent suspect it's a genjutsu. But that also becomes too suspicious forcing him to go on the offensive which results in the same outcome. The user still lives life by the same principles you do in a genjutsu. He still breathes,hears,gives off heat,has a sense of smell and can taste things. The clones I expect aren't as life like so you can use all those elements to your advantage as well. When the genjutsu has been cast you will know where the original one is for the first few moments but it is difficult not to become overwhelmed by the clones.(Keeping your eye on the prize) Which I would figure happens in most cases...

Wetting the battlefield will force the users divide to show like a rock in a river. Because the user doesn't have synced vision once you establish the situation you can turn the genjutsu around on him and conceal yourself amongst his clones. (Cutting the clones will reveal your location but also keep your moves hidden if you realise he at long range.) An arch of wind will make the clone situation worse but the original will always be forced to protect himself. If the user just uses his clones to hide himself and not attack you with them. Knowing they can't hurt will make the opponent suspect it's a genjutsu. But that also becomes too suspicious forcing him to go on the offensive which results in the same outcome. The user still lives life by the same principles you do in a genjutsu. He still breathes,hears,gives off heat,has a sense of smell and can taste things. The clones I expect aren't as life like so you can use all those elements to your advantage as well. When the genjutsu has been cast you will know where the original one is for the first few moments but it is difficult not to become overwhelmed by the clones.(Keeping your eye on the prize) Which I would figure happens in most cases...

Not bad. btw another note, these clones do not have their own chakra signatures like the kage bunshin no jutsu.
