1. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Forever my favourite piece of fiction ever. Nothing has ever inspired or brought me as many indescribable emotions and life lessons as Tengen Toppa.

2. Naruto
No other show could keep me as invested for all these years. I will follow this manga no matter how many bad turns it makes. No show has better characters than this one.

3. Ano Hana (The Flower We Saw That Day)
The most emotional and painfully sad thing i've ever watched. This is the first piece of fiction to make me cry. I haven't dared go back to it for just this reason. More addictive and better cliffhangers than even DEATH NOTE.

4. Soul Eater
Who cares if it deviates from the manga near the end? Soul Eater is the perfectly crafted anime. There is no anime more stylish and perfectly made in my opinion. It had amazing fights, loads of epic moments and knew exactly when to end. Also has the best female protagonist ever.

5. Naruto SD
I know right? A comedy relief spin off above masterpieces like FMA & Death Note? Naruto SD is more than that. It is the perfect comedy relief that the Narutoverse needed, it captures my exact sense of humour and sometimes Naruto SD is just batsh*t crazy. Sometimes I even say I prefer SD to Shippuden, but it's not like that. It's a different kind of love. Underneath all of the parodies of Naruto characters (seriously, Orochimaru wears a tutu, often) and the inane bullsh*t there is actually a really sensitive and heart-warming show here. The final episode was fantastic and I will probably miss it more than any other anime.

6. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
The original FMA bored me to tears, Brotherhood though? Near-masterpiece. The 7 Sins are properly used, the story is finally how it was meant to be told and although it has a slow start, FMA:B has the best finale ever. Every character serves their purpose and every character's story get's perfectly wrapped up. It feels like more than an anime.

7. Baccano!
This doesn't even feel like a real anime. This is a narrative-driven anime that reminds me of things like Pulp Fiction & Snatch. Huge cast whose stories overlap, so it's impossible not to like at least one of the stories.

8. My Little Monster!
The cutest anime romance you will ever watch. The first series ended on a bit of an ambiguous ending but I fell in love with literally all of the characters and even if you think awkward love triangles might be cringey, this makes them genuinely interesting to follow. An unlikely romance.

9. Fooly Cooly
My god I would love to know what this show is about. I have no idea, it is pure mecha driven, directionless insanity. But yet it is fantastic. AND. I. DONT. KNOW. WHY.

10. Death Note
Death Note is on everyones Top 10. Psychological cat & mouse game is fantastic to follow. The cliffhangers and plot twists are immense and the morality involved is also highly interesting too. I actually prefer the Near & Mello arcs myself and the show is VERY unexpected. Seriously, nobody is safe, EVER in Death Note. And that's why I love it.

Do you watch any of these shows for yourself? Disagree with what i've put? SAY SO

How about OnePiece? I recommend it! People may be bashing the series, but when you finish the aired episodes/read the chapters, you will see the story is really good.

Numbers 2 and 5 shouldn't be that high, honestly, let alone in the Top 10. Have you ever seen Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter x Hunter, Darker Than Black, heck, even Code Geass? All these shows are much better than Naruto. I don't know much about 1, 3, 8, or 9, though.

I have watched if anything, way too much anime. This list was pretty hard to cut down, I have a real thing for Naruto SD. It's appealing in a different way and i'm going to miss it more than any of the others on the list.

I have tried Bleach, Code Geass & DBZ and could not stand any of them.

I'll try to get into One Piece one day but that's a LOT of episodes to start.

Code Geass is the best anime..

I honestly found it to be just a boring Death Note with mechas. Just my personal opinion. If you're 12 episodes into an anime and still not enjoying it, it's time to call it quits.

Oh my god I hated Darker than Black. I could not stand it's narrative, different girl every 2 episodes isn't my thing- I just could not get emotionally invested...

Never tried HunterXHunter though, maybe i'll try it out. (Also it's a Naruto forum, Naruto's going to be on the list :') It may not be the perfect anime/manga by any means but not much in the way of fiction tops how invested I am in the Narutoverse.

Watch Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter x Hunter, Darker than Black, or Ao no Exorcist. All are incredible.

Also Blue Exorcist would've been at 11 in this list, would've been higher if not for the final arc and Yukio's character.

Forever the best anime. It is basically flawless.

I agree. Not only does it have 2 of the top 10 strongest anime characters ever, it also has the best male character too (see avi)

I shed a tear at the ending. I've rewatched it about 4 times

Gainax outdid themselves and created a masterpiece. The 2 most epic moments for me are Kittan's death.
You know when he kisses Yoko and the piano starts playing...and you just know that he's dead.

That and when depressed Simon loses it and shouts at Rossiu.

And when Simon punches Rossiu to stop him from killing himself

and and and omg theres just too much. Every episode, every moment is perfect.

I do care about Soul Eater anime deviating from the actual plot...It's actually lame in the anime, doesn't even reach the most interesting part and after Brew is just full of nosenses (not to mention the audio was missing on some action scenes, which ended up lacking because of that). I didn't even like the style...I love so much Ookubo's art, that I felt just sad seeing them like that. Not gud, not gud U_U

Loved it. I thought it was perfect and sad that they didn't give Simon an entirely happy ending. It would all be a little bit too cliche and it REALLY hurt too as I loved Nia. The final fight was so epic and that final stretch where TTGL kept getting defeated and passing on the next mecha until it just got to Simon and his drill is the best sequence in any anime. Ever.

Also is your sig pic from Insidious?

I think they're very different things. It would be nice if they did the same thing they did with Full metal and made an alternate version where it follows the plot to a T but Soul Eater still remains an amazing anime. The art is drastically different but it's each to their own. I actually read the manga and I SO prefer Maka & Chrona VS Medusa & Stein and everyone VS Kishin Asura than they did it in the manga. Medusa/Maka VS Arachne..... eh. I honestly can say I prefer the anime version of the story.
