I don't believe luffy has a mother, why?
Here are some facts.
1. Will of D. Carriers usually smile at death
2. We have not seen luffies mother
3. Dragon has high expectations for luffy.
Now, number one. Why do will of D. carriers smile at death? We can't possibly know for sure, but it clearly has something to do with hope.
Skipping to number 3, I'll get to number 2. Dragon has high expectations for luffy. Hope.
Another fact, dragon is middle aged. He says an era determines everything, he is already out of his era, so he started a new one with luffy. The smile when Will Of D. Carriers die has atleast something to do with hope for the next era.
I don't believe it's the exact meaning, but what if the will of D. has something to do with D.ematerialization?
So, what I'm trying to get at is I think dragon dematerialized himself for the next generation, the new era.
It would explain why luffies mother has never been seen 698 chapters in to the series.
