Track is beginning Monday, now let me tell you a little about my self..

  • I'm 5'10, 170lbs, and have more of a football physique
  • I play football/basketball/soccer etc..

What I want to know is, will track drop my body weight (I want to stay the same weight)? Will I be able to gain weight still while doing intense cardio?

I know track will get me faster for football next year, but I'm a concerned about my weight because I'm a varsity Running Back.

What event do you do, Proof? You should be in one that best fits your body structure, if you had a choice.

Just make sure you stick to the same diet your eating now, maybe a bit more. Don't gorge yourself or whatever, just make sure you eat enough so that it balances out with the new exercise your getting, and your weight should maintain.

If you eat healthy, and have a balanced diet, I don't think cardio will take much of your weight.

And if you don't have much body fat, it won't. It would be good if you done some weights, to build some muscles, weight could increase or stay the same (while fat is burnt if you have much) but pure muscles....

And I think I gained weight when I joined gym and started doing intense cardio. Did it everyday I went gym, but also with some weights, the weight I gained was just muscle :) Hope I made sense here, not goos at explaining things lol

OT: Keep in mind you shouldn't do more than 4 hours of cardio a week if you want to stay at your current weight.
Also, don't forget your high-protein diet and meat twice a week for muscle building

Just make sure to eat ramen all day everyday like Naruto and you should turn out fine. Just look at Naruto.

you want to eat a sh*tload of carbs. my dad had my bro on a a diet thing for football cuz he was in the same situation you're in. if there's a quick, easy/light pasta dish you can make, eat that as an EXTRA meal after you work out. that'll keep your weight up as well as give you energy so you're not passing out after the intense cardio

I was in track sophomore and junior year. I unintentionally lost a considerable amount of weight and gained great muscle tone in my legs.
You better pig out on fatty foods that consist of carbs if you want to gain weight whilst in track.
You'll lose a good percentage of your body weight, but I'm sure you already know all of this. You're a smart guy. Those questions must have been rhetorical.

Really just trying to increase my 40 time.. So probably going to participate in the 100 meter dash.

Yeah I here you, but the intense training I'll be doing (I like to practice extra because I like being the best etc.) will burn the calories I eat quickly with my fast metabolism. Probably eat 1000 calories over maintenance?

Oh yeah. When I say "fatty foods", I don't mean sugary and buttery crap like cake, brownies, cookies, etc. Those will decrease your stamina and make you feel slouchy.

It wasn't rhetorical because I didn't know. I'm still a teenager (15) there are things I do not comprehend correctly.

The 100m should complement your Running Back position. As for weight, stick to your current intake, and add a little more, and you should be good to go! :D

exactly lol and this is super important if you're taking Creatine.... DRINK LOTS OF WATER the creatine uses the water in your body to aid the muscle growth (or something like that) but ultimately it dehydrates you like crazy so make sure you're drinking alot of water both during your workouts and throughout the day
