Hi lovely people I need clarification, is Zoro left eye blind for good or he's hiding something?

I've been wondering the same thing, a theory says he has a demon like Ashra in his left eye, but then again the scar could come from training or some battle during that time, I would rather believe he has some sort of power up to reveal in that eye.

Besides for all the scars we got an information we are yet to know what happened to his eye.

Some say it's nothing some say it's something for Asura and some say it has CoC in it...

Rayleigh has an identical scar and Shanks has a similar one x3; highly doubt he's blind in that eye. At this point it's all speculation.

Zoro literally tried to cut off his own legs when he was trapped by Mr. 3. He's exactly the kind of guy who'd lose an eye while training. Mihawk was probably trying to teach him Observation Haki, and spoke in the same vague way he spoke about Armament Haki. He more than likely said something like "You need to learn how to rely on more than just your eyes," and Zoro's extreme behavior that led him to try to slice off his own feet to escape Mr. 3 and suggest cutting off Usopp's hand to separate them when they were cuffed together on Enie's Lobby led him to slice his own eye, not realizing Mihawk meant Haki.

Tbh zoro is not lacking as a character in any way.

He actually is. He doesn't have any core development to his character that isn't shared by the rest of the crew, something that can be found in each member. In terms of character development, Zoro is the second worst Strawhat, just before Sanji.

Zoro is blind until proven otherwise; fan-boys will always try to hype Zoro regardless of the situation, because that is what Zoro is, pure hype. I don't believe or think that Zoro is hiding a secret power on his left right eye.

Yeah I forgot about that, but you have to keep in mind that the characters have changed a lot. Zoro wanted to enter the new world stronger, loosing an eye gives you half the vision you had in the first place leaving you a huge blind spot, in new world enemies will not fool around they are the real deal,an eye in battle it can be literally the difference between life and death, and I believe or I want to believe that Zoro thought that.

My little theory is that seeing as how Zoro love's training that he's still training his observation haki by keeping one eye closed (so to keep himself in a disadvantage) and then when he's mastered it to an extreme length i think he will open his eye. The scar i think is from Zoro doing what i said above and because he was just a beginner he got cut by one of the baboons and then later got used to that situation.

I think it may be a purely aesthetic decision by Oda. Sanji and Zoro are Luffy's left and right hands essentially, one uses kicks mostly the other uses arms mostly, ones pretty reserved the others pretty emotional, they're a bit like yin and yang. Sanji has his right eye covered, now Zoro has his left eye shut.

There's the idea that when Zoro through his sword up at Mihawks then we get an outside of the castle that the sword landed in his eye then.

There's the idea he's keeping it closed to develop a super sight in it when it does open.

Oda has a very expansive mind and has said that he writes his story from a perspective of what his audience finds appealing... he knows it would be a waste of build up and potential to have nothing be in that eye.

Usopp-Became less cowardly and has greater faith in himself, doesn't see himself as useless to the crew

Sanji- Learned dreams are worth dying for, as opposed to when he told Zoro what good is having a dream if you die.

Nami- Went from caring for no one else to showing concern for others, most dominantly shown in Punk Hazard to the children.

Brook- No longer cared about how he looked ridiculous in front of others because it's who he is

Franky- Takes pride in his creations, instead of denouncing them. That's why he so proudly uses his nipple lights.

Chopper- Embraced that he's a monster, making it positive rather than being negative

Luffy- acknowledged that he can't naively believe that everything will just work themselves out, and that he needs to have the strength to make things happen.

Robin- No longer suicidal, realizes she is loved.

Zoro just had a different situation. One similar part of his development can be described as he initially even threatened Luffy and later on went to become pretty much the most loyal of the crew, to the point where he would force luffy to stay on the right path and put luffy's dream, specifically, before his own life long dream of becoming the WSS. And this is important because of how he was in the beginning. Obviously different events lead up to it.

And that's just one part of the characterization and it's development in the series. Zoro obviously doesn't have much backing him up when it comes to characterization from a backstory, even his own dream wasn't explored much but he good development regarding his ambition and relation with Luffy during his first confrontation with Mihawk within their travels. So I do think that what he get throughout the series do make up for it.
