Yep that's how it works. luffy fights strongest, Zoro second strongest, and Sanji third strongest. That's just how Oda writes his manga. Pre alabasta there could be an argument about Zoro beating Luffy, but I think Luffy wins high def. The gap in strength is most likely small, but it's there nevertheless.

doesn't prove anything luffy is the main protagonist he will always fight the main antagonist. zoro also ascended himself in alabasta after learning to cut steel. imo luffy was probably stronger back then but all im saying is that it wasn't confirmed who was stronger between the 2 until the lucci fight.

Imo Zoro might win. Because here are the facts Zoro has been fighting the whole time without trying. The guy hasn't gotten hurt once. Luffy on the other hand is lacking that and been getting hurt along the way. Like recently when he attacked Doffy without adding haki Doffy blocks it like nothing.
