Zombie Question

Hello I was having a debate with a friend. And thought I would see if any of you had any thoughts on the subject.
It's on weather or not Zombies have goals or simply instincts. We're debating on weather there's a difference between goals or instincts, or if instincts are just a simplifyed version of a goal.

May seem a tad complicatd but if you have any thoughts I would like to hear them.

Well my question. If I worded it wrong, has to do with wheather or not a zombies instincts, and the term goal are one in the same or wheather there is a difference between the two terms when applied to a zombie. It's an odd thing to be asking but, then agian the original disscussion was created so as to make me think. Just thought I would pass it on.
