Zhenji is a dignified and proud noblewoman who yearns to find personal satisfaction in battle. Her elegance and beauty have enchanted many who come across her, as others label her beauty to be simultaneously dangerous. Since she loves to flaunt her natural talents, her pride with her status borderlines arrogance and makes her seem smug. Though she acts hostile towards him on their first meeting, she genuinely grows devoted to Cao Pi during their time together. She affectionately addresses him as "My beloved" or "My lord" (我が君, Waga kimi). She exchanges witty repartee with Cao Pi, indeed she could be viewed as a quaintrelle. Being born in Konohagakure, as an Uchiha, Zhen has no memories of her true parents. As an infant, she was found abandoned on the doorstep of an adoption house, nestled atop a flute in an exquisite case of unknown origins. She was an unusually well-behaved child, always quiet and content. Her caretakers were sure she would find a home quickly. Zhen remained at the adoption house until her teens, watching in hopeless silence as prospective adopters passed her by. During this time, the caretakers sold her flute to anxious collectors, hoping to build her a trust. For a myriad of bizarre and unexpected reasons, however, it would be returned, or simply appear again outside the house.
When a wealthy woman named Oerba Yun Fang learned of the young girl and her talent for her flute, she immediately embarked to Konohagakure. When the caretakers showcased the instrument for her, she rose wordlessly and explored the house, stopping outside Zhen's room. Without hesitation, she adopted her and left a generous donation for the instrument. With Fang's guidance, Zhen discovered a deep connection with the instrument.
As the youngest child of the family, Zhen always considered herself destined for greatness. The Laurents had dominated the dueling culture of Demacia's aristocracy for centuries, and her master, Jin Kazama was regarded as one of the finest fighter the nation had ever seen (<_< >_>). Inspired by his tales of glory, Zhen Ji began training as soon as she could wield a blade and quickly tried to show greater talent than any of her siblings. As she grew older, her self-confidence and rigid discipline only widened the gulf of expertise between Zhen and her peers. Her fellow duelists perceived her confidence as arrogance, but none could defeat her in combat, and each victory only heightened her lofty self-esteem. Even so, Zhen never allowed herself to become complacent in her training, and she drove herself ever harder to become a worthy successor to her master's legacy.
Her devotion turned out to be misplaced. On the eve of an arranged duel, Zhen's opponent was caught slipping a slow paralysis poison into his drink, pointing out that she tried to poison him. Following the incident, many of his past opponents came forward with their own accusations: envenomed weapons, bribery, blackmail, and more. In an instant, he had nearly destroyed her family's honorable reputation, but all was disproven by her master. Zhen was still outraged. Not only had her opponent betrayed her ideals, but her whole village now doubted her own ability. She desperately wanted to wipe the stain from her family's history but, even more, she wanted the world to acknowledge her mastery.
As such, her master suddenly invited her and her family to his village, known as ''Iwagakure''. As she had no reason to stay in Konoha anymore, she and her family accepted the invite, and left Konoha for Iwa. In Iwagakure, she met a man known as ''Cao Pi'', which she fell in love, and married him.
