Falling from the sky like a young chick being thrown out of the nest after being caught smoking pot in momma birdies home, Kagura lands on the ground gracefully like a cat that is falling upside down but at the last minute he defies gravity and flips over landing on his feet bcz he just got his hair done. Looking down at his pupil Kagura makes a wtf face as he sees him living life to the fullest >_>

While rolling around in the dirt, The Tschikage notices his sensei fall from the sky. Quickly he gets up. Oh don't mind me. Just an old man having fun...Nice hair by the way. Ahem. Now then. Doton is the creation of Earth or Earth like material or the manipulation of Earth using chakra. Doton has the advantage over Suiton because it natural absorbs it. It is weak against Raiton, because eletrcity can easily rip through it.

Doton also has the advantage over Rain, Ice, Dark, Scorch, Bugs, Steam, and some sound jutsu. Advanced elements that it is weak to are: Sand, Blast, Boil, Steel, Storm, Crystal, Wood, Lava, and Kaguya jutsu.

The properties of Doton can range from hard gravel like to swampy mud to hard iron like materials. Doton Style can also effect the way gravity affects something. Doton users can make something lighter or heavier this way.

In the manga and anime, doton is shown as actual gravel, iron skin, and sticky swampy mud. I don't think Jiraiya's oil jutsu is Doton, but if it is then that too.

Prominent users of doton are my two successors Muu and Onoki, Akatsuchi, Kurotsuchi, Kakashi, Jiraiya, Yamato, and Hiruzen.

In the long run, mastery doton will put me one step closer to being able to use my fuuinjutsu permission the Gods of our world have blessed me with. That aside, doton seem to me more versatile. The other elements tend to me more offensive based. Doton is a balance between offensive, defensive, and supplementary. Simple things such as a doton pillar can help me avoid a stronger ranked jutsu. Suiton specialist already have a hard time using advanced sutions with the lack of water sources. Me mastering doton will just make it harder for them.

"No, Jiraiya's oil tech isn't doton, but other than that you did a pretty good job. I too like doton for its versatility in usage. Doton can be combined with wind, increasing speeds thus destruction as well, and fire, creating molten pieces of earth. Yes water style users have the disadvantage of being restricted sometimes due to them not having a water source, but likewise earth style users are restricted the most when they are off of the ground. Earth is dense, hard, and sturdy, and in order to learn this style to achieve that fuuin you want, you must learn to mold earth chakra. Now I want you to grab a kunai, because we're going to have a duel. We are going to clash our tools against each other, but you goal is to make your continue on while mines is deflected away. The only way you can do this is by channeling earth chakra into the kunai, increasing its density, before throwing it. If you did it wrong then both of our kunai will be deflected. When transforming the nature of your chakra to that of earth remember what I said earlier about earth being dense and hard and try to make your chakra mimic that." Reaching to my waist I grab a kunai as I widen my stance and ready myself to throw it as you throw yours.

The Tsuchikage nods his head as a sign that hes following and understanding what his sensei. He then pulls a kunai out of his robe and reaches down to grab a hand full of dirt in his left hand. The Tsuchikage then closes eyes and enters a meditative state. He imagines dirt, rocks, mud and other Earth materials while squeezing the dirt in his left hand. He focuses on what it feels like. The dry dirt, hard pebbles, and the countless other minerals in it. Soon, he starts transferring chakra into the kunai in right hand. Hes sure to make sure it mimics the earth like materials he imagined as well as the dirt he had in his other hand. Now! The Tsuchikage awakes from his meditative state and throws the doton chakra covered kunai at his Sensei.

The two kunai deflect off of each other and fly off in separate ways.

Describe the characteristics of your chakra as it changes from normal to earth chakra. The quality that makes the two different.

Raw chakra by itself seems to some weightless colorless energy. It doesnt become dangerous until it is manipulated to be so. The most obvious change is the color. Raw chakra is blue is in high concentrations or invisible to non doujutsu eyes. When when chakra is turned into doton it usually turns brown or gray/black. That depends on if it is mimicking dirt, mud, or iron. The texture also change. The chakra become a solid that feels like mud, dirt, or iron. The chakra goes through what is called a chemical change in Science.

"Try not to be so scientifical. The answers are basic, you just need to say the key terms that goes along with everything. Earth chakra is harder and denser than normal chakra, and you can't physically feel chakra so saying it feels like the material it is shaping isn't possible. Also earth chakra covers mud and dirt techniques so the chakra has the same form while we have no canon iron chakra." >_>

Simple basic low leveled earth technique that evolves around making tools of earth either from one's body or from the earth itself. This tools are pretty weak, but the can be useful depending on how you use them.

A technique that's useless unless you use a jutsu i'll teach you later on. The basis of the move is to sneak up on your opponent from below before pulling them down into the ground to the point where only their head is exposed, helpless and submissive to your will.

Description: This technique allows the user to take a small chunk of rock and turn it into the shape of a staff. The user can then use it as a melee weapon or throw it with pinpoint accuracy at their opponent. A variation of this technique allows the user to create several staffs and launch them at the target, but with less accuracy.

Using an earth source the user will create a staff that can be used for battle for close range combat or thrown with high accuracy. You can create more than one staff from this tech, but they will lose accuracy when thrown compared to just throwing one.

Explanation
(Doton: Shinju Zanshu no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Double Suicide Decapitation Technique

This is a doton jutsu that can only be user in combination and after The Hiding Like a Mole jutsu has been used. The Hiding Like a Mole jutsu allows the users to transverse through the ground. Once that jutsu has been done, the user can pull the target into the ground up to their head. The target more than likely won't be doing the Hiding Like a Mole Jutsu for the force exerted on their body by the ground surrounding them prevents them from moving. This leaves the target vulnerable for an attack or toruture.

Performance
(Doton: Gansetsukon) - Earth Release: Rock Section Cane

The Tsuchikage scoops up an handful of dirt from the ground in both hands. He then balls his hands into fist and touches the insides of his fist together. Next he starts to mold and concentrate doton chakra into his fist and apply it to the dirt. With his hands still in a fist, he pulls them outward while still applying doton chakra to the dirt. As he does so the dirt turns into a harden staff made of dirt. The Tsuchikage then throws the staff at a tree 4 m from his current location.

Counter: If a pillar is used to push me, I can create a pillar to intercept my opponents pillar or use a fuuton jutsu to blow myself off of the pillar.
Adv.~ Very versatile jutsu. The user can create tools for offensive use or create pillars to push them out the way of jutsu. The user can also create pillars to push their target into jutsus.
Dis.~ The shield form of this technique isnt all that powerful. Any C rank offensive jutsu can destroy it.

Counterersonally I would use an AOE ranged fuuton that is of higher rank. The fuuton would have its own power and be carrying the rocks back at the opponent.
Adv.~ An advantage would be that the user creates the rocks with their own chakra. This is one of the few dotons that can be used when not in contact with the ground.
Dis.~ The jutsu doesnt start by shooting off the rocks. The rocks have to be formed into a ring before being shot off. Therefore the jutsu needs some time before being used fully and successfully.

Watching the old man die of a heart attack touched my heart. I no longer wanted to train, and instead I performed a hand seal and summoned cloths on top of mines. They were all black attire suited for a funeral. With flowers in my hands I mourned the elderly man in silence. Head bowed in respect. Stunna shades on. In a depressed tone I then talked to the man who had been lurking on my training.

"There is a scroll by your foot. Open it. Read it, and perform HLAM tech in unison with the earth tech I taught you earlier that goes along with it. Use the template on the others. Oh, and no, that last earth jutsu requires you to be on the ground since you utilize the rocks from it. It isn't created directly from your chakra."

(Doton: Moguragakure no Jutsu) – Earth Release: Hiding like a mole technique

Description: The user changes earth into fine sand by channeling chakra into it, allowing the user to dig through it like a mole. While underground one can sense what is happening on the surface and use the information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. Once can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy cant reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth. While inside the earth, the user cannot make handseals and can only use Earth techniques below C-Rank. If he tries to do a higher ranked technique, he'll disrupt the Hiding like a mole technique and be left crushed.

A technique that can be very useful for a number of things including escape and sneak attacks. This tech allows the user to travel underground at great lengths while also having the ability to sense everything above the ground too. This technique can put you at a great advantage in terms of placement with your opponent, but while using this you are at great risk from the swamp of the underworld tech which will stop you before suffocating you if caught inside it, so be careful.

Description: After performing the Rat hand seal, the user to control multiple sections of rock and move them around their opponent. The user then forms two gigantic sections that crush the opponent.

After performing 1 hand seal you can manipulate the earth around your target causing sections of earth to rise and piece together creating a gigantic rock formation that crushes anyone caught in the midst of it. This tech is swift and hard to dodge due to the earth pieces rising from all sides so it is a good technique to use in combinations because it leaves your opponent limited.

Description: This technique lets the user create a few rock pillars that will protrude from the ground to skew the target. The rock pillars will even pass through obstacles to reach their target if these are less dense. The pillars/spikes can be done in any earthen surface, including other earth techniques of the user.

A handy technique that allows the user to create earth spikes from the ground to skewer their targets. This tech is versatile because of its range, and its reaction to less dense substances as well as other earth techniques.

Sasuke starts to gather and mold doton chakra in his feet in a similar way done when walking on water. He then transfers his collected doton chakra directly into the ground underneath him and turns it into sand and digs through it with his chakra. While underground, Sasuke can still sense everything done above him. Sasuke then pinpoints the location of a clone and pull it down until it is neck deep into the ground. Sasuek then pops out the ground right beside it and destroys the clone via a kick to the head.

Counter: The Earth Release Technique could be used to create a pillar beneath me and push me above the stones.
Adv.~ Requires 1 handseal, and while it is D rank should the jutsu connect it will be fatal.

Dis.~ They leave an opening above the target.

Descripton: The user will do one hand seal and cause nearby earth structures (either natural occurring ones on the field (such as cave ceilings, cliffs, etc), man made (buildings, etc) or jutsu made (up to C-Rank active structures)) to collapse and fall. This technique allows the ninja to control nearby stone and rock and dislodge any vulnerable or sensitive spots, causing the structure to collapse. This can be especially useful if in a cave or a stone lodging. The technique can loosen the rocks and cause them to come raining down on whomever is trapped inside. The damage depends on the size of the cavern or rock lodging above or nearby the target and not on the amount of chakra used which doesn't need to be high. A large cave with a thick ceiling can easily do the physical damage equivalent to an A-Rank technique but due to the damage not being focused or chakra fueled, its also easily defendable.

A technique that allows the user to cause earth structures to crumble with one hand seal. It can be used on structures on the battlefield without chakra, or up to C-Rank chakra filled structures. The damage caused depends on the structure it was used on, but since the ruble isn't chakra fueled it can be defended against easily.

Sasuke walks over to a nearby cliff and does one hand seal. He then sends doton chakra throughout the cliff and focuses on the weak spots. This causes a bunch of boulders to dislodge from the cliff and fall down.

Is it easily defendable due to some technicality causing the falling boulder to be considered freeform or perhaps the boulders themselves don't have a rank actually associated with them?

Description: When used with Earth Release: Earth Flow River, the user will then perform the Ram → Horse → Dragon they can create a dragon-like head that fires concentrated mud bullets at an opponent. This can also be combined with a fire jutsu to shoot lava toward an opponent. The dragon can be created from other mud techniques as along as a mud source is available.

After performing 3 hand seals the user can create a earth dragon head that fires dense mud bullets at the target. I think the 3rd used this on a roof meaning it doesn't need an earth source to use, but im not sure >_>

If this tech is combined with fire the mud projectiles will become lava projectiles.

With one hand seal the user can create a river of mud beneath the opponent which knocks them off balance and carries them away from the user.

Description: After performing the required hand seals Rat → Horse → Dog → Snake and they then create a large amount of rock pillars to rise from under ground. They can then be controlled to surround their opponent and create a bamboo-like prison of rock.

With four hand seals the user can manipulate the ground to cause several rock pillars to rise in a pattern the constructs a rock prison around the target.

Question: Can this jutsu be performed without using Earth Flow River. I ask because you asked me to perform this jutsu and use the template for Earth Flow? How powerful are the lava bullets if I combined this jutsu with an A or S ranked katon.
Performance
I weave three hand seals and mold my doton chakra into the ground. Through the use of shape manipulation, I create a dragon head made of Earth. Then I manipulate it to shoot concentrated mud bullets.

Question: Can all mud combined with fire to create lava? The mud from this jutsu can be combined with fire when used with the Earth Dragon Bullet jutsu to create lava projectile. If I performed a katon on Earth Flow River, would it become flowing lava?

Counter: There are a few Raitons that work by using the ground as a medium. They would neutralize the jutsu.
Adv.~ Can be used to fuel Earth Dragon Bullet. Can carry the target and possibly other hazards away from the jutsu.

Explanation
The Earth Release: Rock Pillar Prison Technique work by performing four handseals and sends ones doton chakra into the ground beneath their target or targets. Next they apply shape manipulation to create numerous doton pillars and make them rise out above the ground. The jutsu is great for limiting the movement of ones target. You have to be quick with the next attack though. The targets can just concentrate chakra into their feet and walk out. An attack from above and below would work great with this technique. The pillars being in such close vicinity to the targets means they have to be careful with destroying them. Using jutsus like Katons would backfire and harm the target. Raiton jutsus suck has Nagashi or concentrating raiton into a blade would be viable defenses. Using a basic doton release to create ones own pillar to put themselves above the pillar prison would also work.

(Doton: Doroku Gaeshi) - Earth Release: Earth Shore Return

Description: After striking the ground with their hands, the user manipulates the ground in front of him to form a slab that tilts upwards, up to 90º, creating a wall of earth that can defend from incoming frontal attacks. In addition, the user can also create 2 slabs that will rise and tilt to the sides in front of him, as if "opening up" the ground. This can be done to create a clear path if anything hazardous is above the ground in that specific area.

This tech requires hand contact with the ground in order to trigger. The jutsu allows the user to open up the earth in two ways, both being separate applications of the tech. The user can either tilt the ground in front of their location up 90 degrees creating a defensive earth slab, or they can create two slabs to the sides in front of their location as if they were opening a door in the ground. This allows the user to clear the ground of anything bad.

Description: This technique lets the user summon a river of mud infront of them by lifting one of their hands in the air. This technique can have water added to it to speed up the flow and increase its power.

A very easy technique that allows the user to summon a river of mud in front of their location by raising their hand into the air. The river has a very good range and with added water the speed of the flow will increase as well as its power.

(Doton: Dochū Eigyo no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Underground Projection Fish Technique

Description: Using this jutsu, a person can hide underground until they're ready to attack an opponent by merging with the ground itself. By utilizing earth-chakra, the person can stealthily emerge from the ground without disrupting the ground around him. The disadvantage with this technique is that merging with the ground is rather slow and while perfomring the technique, the user is vulnerable to high ranked Earth techniques. The user isn't hidden from doujutsu or sensory ninjas and cannot travel beyond the 3 meter deep mark. Moving around in the ground is slow and the user cannot sense very well what is happening above.

A stealth based technique that allows the user to merge with the ground silently, but with drawbacks.
