Even sasuke+orochimaru couldn't do anything to itachi..
He died from his own illness and he was only trying to awaken sasuke's mangekou and he also planned to die by sasukes hands ...which didnt happen. But since sasuke was way weaker than itachi, sasuke didnt develop his mangekou and itachi had implanted amaterasu to sasuke.
