Hipster Hiei: Using black fire before it was cool (Dragon of the Darkness Flame)
Hipster Kuwabara: Using Yellow Spirit Swords that can extend before it was cool (Com at me Itachi)!
Hipster Kurama: Inspired Kurama's name... used Mokuton before it was cool
Hipster Yusuke: Had inner demon blood/spirit before it was cool
Overall... Yu-Yu Hakusho seems to have better feels and intensity. All of the main characters actually receive power-ups and great development (even the side charcters have decent development like Kaiko, Botan, Enma Jr., and Genkai).
Also, the villains have some legitimate existence to them, and you respect them for why they were villains Toguro, Shensui, Yomi, Mokkuro....
Loved how Kurama never seemed to go all out at the end of the series (beating people and winning rounds purly as the A-Ranked Soichi instead of the badass Yoko-Kurama).
Yusuke vs Yomi.......... the feels...... Yusuke vs Toguro.... the feels.... Yusuke vs Suzaku... the feels. Every main villain fight was full of feels with a soundtrack that wonderfully helped create the feeling. Not only that, but you had epic moments even from the "fodder/annoying character" AKA: Kuwabara.... his move on Toguro was so boss!
Kurama kept fighting despite having his legs and arms restrained.
Yeah.... I'll stop wanking right not. Yu-Yu Hakusho (just like other classics like Cowboy Bebop and Ruroni Kenshin) kept some form of balance, and delivered powerful and wholesome stories. They didn't make just one or two people gods and everyone else fodder.... in fact the main character isn't even the strongest character in Yu-Yu Hakusho XD!
IMO... Yu-Yu Hakusho is an overall better done series as of now (I doubt it changes just to say).
