My 2nd favorite Shounen of all time (second only to FMAB)
My favorite arc is the Chimera Ant Arc because we see Gon and Killua develop in ways I didn't expect (like Gon going Blood lusted against Neferpitou) and also I LOVED the relationship/dynamic between King Meruem and Komugi... The deaths in the Chimera Arc was also pretty great (like Netero and the royal guards).
Great but the author stopped giving a shit...
I mean yeah its one of the best things you could watch but still it ended just like that .. Not satsfied with the ending only because they prepared for a new arc but stopped the anime.
One of the best anime. Chimera arc is the best arc. You don't see no good vs evil shit or somebody trying to play hokage. All you see is survival of fittest, human nature, and how malice human can be. Shit is more realistic than Naruto. You get to see the purest happiest child be affected from environment.
I liked the way it was told about Phantom Troupe, their members, their powers, there were also funny parts. I also liked Kurapika's fighting style against them.
Chimera Ant - I liked the fighting of certain characters, like Neferpitou, Netero, Meruem, and of course Zoldycks.
I also liked 13th Hunter chairman election arc and Heavens arena arc.
I love the series and the recent Dark Continent arc will be the best HxH arc to date IMO & probably one of the best shonen arcs. Togashi really put a lot of effort into the story telling of that arc and it's really enjoyable to read the HxH chapters of the DC arc. Not to mention we get so much content packed into each chapter, it usually takes a good 15-20 mins to read and process everything that happened.
Chimera just had a slow start but it had amazing character development for Gon, Killua & Meruem. I'm sure a lot of people who used to hate Gon before the Chimera Ant arc now love him because of his development. Meruem was well written and in many eyes he was an amazing villain, much better than Chrollo (yes he never got that much screen time as Meruem) and that says a lot from a Chrollo fanboy. We got to see the spiders kicking ass as well, gotta love that rising sun. There was even romance as well (Meruem & komugi). It had amazing themes, romance, action, character development, flashback (Gyro) & even deaths. I see most people, including myself saying how the RG's got taken care of was somewhat of an asspull/BS but even then, that shouldn't undermine the amazing aspects Chimera Ant arc brought.
My flaws with the series as mentioned above was how Togashi has taken care of the the RG's at the end of the Chimera Ant Arc. Aside from Pitou's death, I didn't really feel satisfied. I know I'm in the minority here but I'm not much of a fan of Alluka. My other problem with the series is the inconsistent artwork but I'm glad he's taking his time with the art of the Dark Continent arc and it's consistently good. Not only that but I feel that his art also shows a lot of emotion into it, which I can only think of few mangakas that can pull off.
Now, for what I love about HxH is a long list but I'll keep it short and simple. My biggest praise would be the nen system because of how consistent it is and how true the series stayed to it since the heaven arena arc. It's really well thought out and I like it:

The second thing I love about HxH are the villains. Togashi is easily the best at creating villains since they have so much depth/complexity to them. And with the recent arc some of them are psychologically messed up, like who says this in a shonen series?:

And let's not forget how messed up the Kakin prince is:

My third point will be the friendship between Killua and Gon and the characters as a whole. There's not many characters that people hate because they were poorly written and we got seemingly two amazing main characters, Gon and Ging . Ging is such an amazing character. Anyways, that's what I like and dislike about HxH with my thought on my fav. completed/ongoing arc.
Edit: How could I forget about the anime? It's the best shonen adaptation that I've seen but it still had it's flaws from minor censorship to skipping out on the Gon/Kite backstory in the beginning (which I can't remember if it was brought up again later on, if it was, please correct me). I also loved the anime OST's, animation/art, pacing & amazing soundtrack (points to my sig).
